The Citi Security and Investigative Services (CSIS) Global Intelligence and Analysis (GIA) Data Analytics Lead Analyst will be responsible for conducting strategic business analysis and optimization of structured and unstructured data available within the CSIS program at Citi. The lead analyst will work with stakeholders across the globe and execute complex statistical / business analyses in support of CSIS functional areas. The analyst will prepare data visualizations, and or build forecast simulation models, develop algorithms to discover and classify activity or behavioral patterns that help in business decision making, and present executive summary findings to business audiences. The focus area for this role is translating complex data into meaningful and digestible insights for a broad and diverse audience of clients and decision makers across the organization up to and including the Chief Security Officer.
Strong background in a quantitative or business discipline such as business administration, management information systems, computer science, statistics or related field is required for this role. Preferred skills include programming experience for data visualization (Cognos, Power BI, Tableau), data analysis, data processing, and statistical tools such as SQL, SAS, or Python.

We accomplish this by offering in-house professional security services and independent investigations to clients across all of Citi’s businesses and regions, and partnerships with other Citi business groups, law enforcement agencies, governments and industry counterparts.
Global Intelligence and Analysis (GIA) is a strategic analytic unit within CSIS that provides business analytics, threat intelligence, and open-source intelligence products to Citi executives, CSIS leadership, and clients. We operate an all-source analytical unit to understand emerging threats in the banking/financial industry, risk trends for the company, and opportunities to improve or adapt business practices. GIA is globally dispersed with analysts in the US, Mexico, Singapore, India, and Hungary that utilizes a follow the sun model to meet our clients’ needs.

A little about this role:
Based in Tampa, the CSIS Data Analytics Lead Analyst will report to the Business Analytics Lead Program Manager. The Lead Analyst will be responsible for conducting strategic business analysis and optimization of structured and unstructured data available within the CSIS programs at Citi. The lead analyst will work with stakeholders across multiple regions and execute complex statistical / business analyses in support of CSIS functional areas. The analyst will prepare data visualizations, and or build forecast simulation models, develop algorithms to discover and classify activity or behavioral patterns that help in business decision making, and present executive summary findings to business audiences. The focus area for this role is translating complex data into meaningful and digestible insights for a broad and diverse audience of clients and decision makers across the organization up to and including the Chief Security Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, analyze and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) for the existing business model. Ensure these KPIs and KRIs are aligned to the business model and modified in lines with changing business objectives
- Conduct data-driven analyses and prepare reports; apply quantitative data analysis methods; prepare statistical and non-statistical data exploration in relation to transactional data as well as internal business indicators
- Apply measurement practices to organize, analyze, and interpret data related to provide actionable information to decision makers.
- Detect data anomalies and identify source of data problems. Recommend data quality solutions and outlier detection, and extreme value normalization techniques to overcome
- Use advanced visualization techniques to display data and the results of analysis in clear presentations and dashboards that can be understood by non-technical readers
- Design statistically valid samples, design and conduct statistical experiments. Perform statistical inference and draw conclusions from sample data
- Display critical thinking in the creation of succinct narrative reports, presentations, visual mapping and link charts or similar diagrams to report analytical assessments. Display data and the results of analysis in clear straightforward business report that can be understood by non-technical readers. Provide written explanations of approach and analysis in plain language that supports the conclusions and observations
- Change Management Advocate – Innovate and generate new ideas, concepts, and models to improve methods of obtaining and evaluating quantitative and qualitative data. Identify relationships and trends in data across the firm, as well as any factors that could affect the research results. Question and validate assumptions and status quo. Escalate identified risks and sensitive areas in terms of methodology and processes
Qualifications/Experience:
- Master’s degree in business administration (MBA)/ computer science/ mathematics/ statistics/ quantitative methods (degree in economics/banking may be considered if strong analytical skills proved)
- 5+ years of experience in data mining methods and their application in business practice (PhD degree may be considered for the fulfilment of work experience requirements)
- 5+ years of experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, and Data Marts/Data Warehouses
- Programming and statistical/data analytical skills (VBA, R, Python)
- Experience in providing the results of analyses in clear written form and presenting the findings to the audience
- Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze, evaluate, and interpret complex data with a strong understanding and application of analytical techniques, including estimating, forecasting, and/or predictive modeling experience
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint – demonstrated creativity in use of these products to solve analytical problems
- Experience in strategy and implementation of new technology and software tools for analytical improvements and information management
- Established project management skills, such as Agile or Scrum. Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously and execute daily duties with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, through all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated self-starter and resourceful individual with the ability and maturity to make decisions in the absence of detailed instructions and with experience of operating in fast paced and dynamic operational settings
