Position Summary

The Business Analyst is responsible for managing the office’s current customer service, business processes, workflow, policies, and procedures with an eye toward improving efficiency and the delivery of services to ensure excellent service for students and families. The Business Analyst will ensure compliance with relevant statutes and regulations pertinent to student receivables.

Responsibilities

The position will collaborate with the Billing, Delinquent Accounts, Loans Repayment and Third Party Billing areas to ensure effective performance outcomes. The primary duties include managing the resolution of complex student account and billing matters, researching and developing processes for automation, collaborating on related business practices, data analysis, implementing business strategies based on analysis and coordinating with team members as needed.

Responsibilities include:
Acts as liaison for inquiries related to billing and student accounts from the Student Service Centers at Morningside and CUIMC;

Manages ServiceNow queue ensuring that service requests are addressed promptly and resolved according to established procedures; identifies and recommends revisions to procedures as needed.

Develops, runs and analyzes financial and statistical reports;

Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported and resolved efficiently and promptly;

Makes independent decisions regarding bypassing and the release of financial holds, returned checks and registration cancellation initiatives, and financial aid reversals resulting in increased receivables;

Monitors receivables and identifies trends based on payment sources and other student attributes.

Ensures that key deadlines are established and met;

Develops reports and identifies key performance indicators;

Documents operational processes and presents to senior management on recommended operational revisions;

Collaborates with directors in designing business strategies and plans to meet SFS goals by improving business operations based on their experience and analysis;

Assists in bill production and Student Information System setup;

Cross trains all staff on new technologies;

Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferably in a Business or Information Systems or other related field;

Minimum of five years experience in accounting, billing/payment management, or financially focused customer service management and data analysis

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a higher education setting focused on student financial services

Other Requirements

Must be detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills,

Have the ability to work closely and effectively with a diverse group of University departments.

Strong organizational skills required, with the ability to be flexible and work both independently and collaboratively.

Must possess excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate must have a passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality, and take pride in their work product.

Strong interpersonal skills

Knowledge of relational databases and experience in utilizing various reporting tools

Demonstrable analytical thinking and business process improvement experience.
