Position Summary
Under the direction of the CUIMC Analytics Assistant Director, Business Analytics the CUIMC Analytics Business Analyst is active in investigating analytic requests and issues and identifying, scoping, documenting specifications for, developing, and maintaining analytic solutions, including reports, dashboards, and related data extracts, from various institutional data sources including clinical information and practice management EHR systems, accounting, human resourcing, and others. This position works directly with operational, academic, and clinical staff, including senior leadership, to review analytic requests, provides status updates, sets expectations, plans, and implements products and services to meet user, enterprise reporting, and data analysis needs. This individual must be proficient in the use of institutional business intelligence tools, key content, and related system data models, and demonstrate strong customer service, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills and comfortable with leading and coaching a team.
Responsibilities
Work with end-users to understand analytic needs, provide guidance on optimal existing and potential solutions, and translate the operational definitions into application-based specifications. 40%
Research workflows and understands how they populate various data models in depth; engaging in knowledge transfer exercises with IT application and operational experts as needed. 30%
Scope, develop, distribute, and provide support for content in a timely manner, using Epic’s proprietary suite of BI Tools, such as Reporting Workbench and Radar, and additional BI applications, prioritizing multiple requests and maintaining a support relationship with all users. 15%
Maintain knowledge of policies, standards, and best practices, internal and industry-wide, including HIPAA, IRB, and data governance policies and procedures, to ensure all deliverables meet those standards. 5%
Works proficiently with MS SQL Server. 5%

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience and 4 years of related experience.
2-4 years analytics, reporting, business analyst related experience or 1-2 years related Epic experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in finance, accounting, and/or professional billing.
Epic certification is preferred, however, if not yet Epic certified, certification is required within the first 6 months of employment.
Experience with Epic report development and application-focused data models and workflows.
Experience with Power BI, Cognos, and/or other popular BI tools.
Excellent decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Proven effectiveness in executing project plans and taking accountability for results.
Experience with administrative and/or operational data and reporting.
Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on communication, detail, and follow-up.
Health care industry experience preferred.
Two years of analytic development experience.
At least one EPIC certification(s) in a related application
