Overview
Individuals in this role will perform and support data management operational functions. This includes monitoring data workflows from all points of system processing (ingestion, transformation, output). They will work data research tickets using JIRA, SQL and/or Oracle within assigned SLA timeframes. If issues are identified they will use technical expertise to troubleshoot the production issues, identify root cause and execution resolution within a timely manner. They provide technical assistance to organize and transform data for optimal workflows of the products and services they support, while conducting data reviews, data validation and data quality actions. May also analyze structured datasets to develop metrics, reports of provide trending and processing reviews. This position is not a software of development role, but a role within the operations umbrella of a Data Management team.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute SQL and/or Oracle queries (moderate to complex)
- Execute update statements in SQL and/or Oracle
- Conduct system analysis to assess and monitor system functionality
- Conduct detailed research using internal and external resources to provide clients and internal partners with data insights
- Translate technical issues into layman’s terms for client ingestion
- Provide information regarding status of day to day business processing, issues that may affect delivery or quality of data, open items that must be executed/monitored during absence
- Complete individual productivity tracking and department reporting
- Achieve organizational and individual goals and mission while adhering to SLAs
- Work as a team member in creation and maintenance of ETL scripts, tools, queries and applications used for healthcare data management, data validation, statistical report generation, and program validation.
- Work as a team member to develop tools and techniques for improving process efficiencies and query performance.
- Program per data transformation specifications to convert source data to be loaded into target data warehouse tables using T-SQL and other Data Integration/ETL tools.
- Review & test the data to ensure accuracy & validity of the data prior to uploading the data to the warehouse.
- Provide off hours On-Call support to resolve production issues when necessary.
- Completes all responsibilities as assigned
- Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2-4 years’ experience with data aggregation, standardization, linking, quality check mechanisms, and reporting.
- 2 years’ experience within the Healthcare or Insurance space in a Data Warehouse operations organization. Strong knowledge of healthcare enrollment, medical claims, and drug claims data required. Additional knowledge of non-traditional data types (health & wellness, workforce productivity, and EMR) preferred.
- Experience with RDBMS (SQL, Oracle, SQL, Vertica, etc.) and using T-SQL or other data integration/ETL tools. Understanding of new technologies like HDFS and NOSQL a plus.
- Experience in the Analysis, design and development of solutions and strategies for creating extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) and real-time applications.
- Experience with ticketing and documentation tools such as Jira.
- Strong knowledge of coding and ability to follow best practices while developing and deploying codes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize projects to meet scheduled deadlines.
- Ability to analyze data with a high level of detailed accuracy and identify root causes of issues using queries.
- Ability to work well independently or in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook and Project.
