We’re looking for aspiring analytical enthusiasts to drive member engagement and behavior change in Aetna’s Medicare Business, using advanced analytics, predictive modeling, segmentation, statistics, and strong programming skills that leverages business acumen and good data storytelling to help Aetna improve member well-being and its product and services.
Medicare Consumer Analytics is one of the largest teams within the Analytics & Behavior Change department’s Consumer Analytics organization. The team is organized by business-aligned verticals – Medicare STARS, Revenue Integrity, Duals COE, Foundational Journeys, Enterprise Activation, & Optimization. This role is within our Optimization vertical.
About The Job
In this Data Scientist role, you will have a chance to leverage advanced techniques statistics and machine learning to solve complex business and technical problems, build customized models that process and make sense of petabytes of healthcare data, and create applications that will automate processes in large scale.
This is a hands-on full-stack data science role with a combination of SQL/Python programming, machine learning, statistical analysis, experiment design, business strategy, and stakeholder management experiences.
Specific job duties include:
- Research and implement statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and other customized solutions using Python to solve complex business problems across the broader team
- Write testable and production-level code and ship the code into production
- Process data from multiple sources via big data platforms (such as GCP)
- Enhance existing data pipelines by exploring data sources and engineering new features
- Improving the statistical methodology backing our experimentation platform
- Work cross functionally to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities
- Provide technical and engineering support and expertise to the broader team
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: $ 70,000
Maximum: $ 140,000
Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in Python that reached advanced / production level (e.g., excellent knowledge in data structures and algorithms and very fluent in Python to implement solutions)
- 1+ years of experience in SQL working with big data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Spark, etc.)
- 1+ years of hands-on experiences designing, engineering, and implementing machine learning models in Python, familiarity with commonly used tools (e.g. Scikit-Learn, Tensorflow, etc.)
- 1+ years of experience in statistical analysis, experiment design, and evaluation using modern algorithms (e.g. casual trees)
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrate ability to manage own projects, independently identify issues, and drive technical solutions
- Ability to communicate advanced technical solutions to multiple stakeholders
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, etc.), or equivalent practical experience
- Prefer Master’s degree
