How you’ll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)


This Engineering position operates within the Propulsion Engineering group at Delta TechOps, supporting the groups primary focus on the safety and reliability of Deltas engine fleets as well as the engine fleets of Delta TechOps MRO customers. This position works extensively with data from the airline and maintenance operations and performs data compilation, analyzes fleet trends, develops interactive dashboards, and generates timely reports to support Propulsion Engineering customers internal and external to TechOps.


  • Query and compile engine data from Deltas operational databases

  • Analyze operational data to gain insights into the on-wing reliability/longevity of Deltas engine fleets as well as the long-term relationship between maintenance and test cell performance
  • Maintain the processing and reporting of the test cell trend monitoring program

  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards for reporting of key engine fleet reliability metrics

  • Generation and distribution of periodic operation and metrics reports to engine maintenance stakeholders

  • Work with engineering team members to analyze operational data to improve the reliability of Deltas engine fleets


What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with data analytics, data visualization, and analysis strongly preferred.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and prioritizations skills.
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine engines preferred.
  • Must be able to interact and collaborate at all levels, cross-divisional working groups, and outside entities.

  • Consistently makes safety and security, of self and others, the priority.
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)


  • A Bachelors degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution or 5 years of relevant experience.

  • 2 years industry experience credited for a masters degree, in the listed disciplines

  • 3 years industry experience credited for a PHD in the listed disciplines

  • Experience with SQL databases; specifically, DB2, Oracle, MSSQL, and MySQL

  • Experience with data visualization in Tableau

  • Experience with data analytics software packages such as Alteryx, R and/or Python

  • Experience with the repair or design of gas turbine or turbofan engines

  • Previous Airline, OEM or MRO experience with commercial aircraft engines

  • Familiarity with airline flight operations and support systems
