As the Senior Manager of Data Platform Operations & Automation, you will maintain and transform our core DataOps and MLOps infrastructure that supports data products in multiple lines of business (Theme Parks, Resorts, Cruise Line, Signature Experiences, Vacation Club, Consumer Products, Digital Experiences, Publishing, and Licensing) within the segment. We are looking for an Engineering leader who can champion an outstanding Developer experience, lean operations, reliability engineering, and continuous improvement.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure high availability of data/cloud infrastructure for supporting the full life cycle of business-critical data products and pipelines.
  • Lead resiliency, duplication, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of DataOps in a current multi-cloud tech stack—AWS, Snowflake, Databricks and GCP.
  • Set up and run proactive monitoring, alerting, and auto-healing of known/unknown faults in the system. Lead all (people, process, and technology) aspects of high-functioning data platform operations.
  • Define appropriate OKRs and indicators to measure continuous improvement. Lead quarterly reviews and communication.
  • Lead technology evaluation and trade-offs to uphold and direct main technology decisions/investments.
  • Guide transformation of legacy Business Intelligence platforms. Establish and be responsible for an executive steering committee to address partners’ concerns and expectations.
  • Lead the lifecycle of several platform features from creation to retirement. Improve and simplify on-boarding/off boarding processes with a high degree of automation and self-service capabilities.
  • Collaborate with other data platform teams within Disney (Media & Entertainment Distribution, Studios, Enterprise Tech, etc.)


Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability in Information Technology with 5+ years as a Manager in platform operations and transformation.
  • Demonstrated ability in cloud infrastructure management, capacity planning, and reliability engineering
  • High level of understanding of one of the cloud data platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, and Databricks.
  • Expertise in CI/CD automation using IaC (infrastructure-as-code).
  • Understanding of serverless and containerized architectures.
  • Appreciation for several types of data users (technical and non-technical) and advocacy of developer experience.
  • Experience with leading medium-sized teams of Engineers and Architects (20+ FTE) relying on both direct ownership and indirect accountability
  • Experience with vendor management in onsite, offshore, and nearshore models.
  • Proven experience with large-scale infrastructure automation and metric-driven continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in the architecture, security, CI/CD, and governance aspects of modern big data and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with the development of shared components and frameworks in a collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools and no code/low code data platforms


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with implementing DataOps and MLOps in a large enterprise.
  • Familiarity with current Lakehouse and DataMesh architecture patterns.
  • Familiarity with several legacy and current Business Intelligence and Reporting tools such as Business Objects, Microstrategy, Tableau, ThoughtSpot, and DataIku, among others
  • Familiarity with hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud environments


Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field


Preferred Education

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
