Job Location: Charlotte, NC

The position of Economist for Driven Brands will report to the Director of Macro & Consumer Insights and will be responsible for all analytics and insights related to industry forecasting, market sizing and market share, and internal brand forecasting. This role will be on the forefront of identifying emerging industry trends and identifying opportunities for Driven Brands to continue to grow its market share.

Responsibilities

  • Provide market sizing by business segment (repair & maintenance, paint, collision & glass, and car wash) based on a top-down (NAICS) and bottoms-up methodology (car parc)

  • Provide scenario-based industry forecasts and tracking of key drivers leveraging 3rd party data sources such as NAICS data, employment drivers, vehicle miles travelled, and car parc

  • Provide market share trends by brand by geography (down to a zip code level) that drives insights into opportunity for growth

  • Quantify total customer potential across the lifecycle of car ownership for repair & maintenance, paint, collision & glass, and car wash

  • Maintain a competitive database that provides insights into type of competitor by business segment, penetration, and estimated market share

  • Provide brand-level forecasts (partnering with FP&A) to incorporate macro factors into the financial forecast

  • Monitor and quantify macro trends that may impact the automotive aftermarket- growth of EVs, autonomous vehicles, etc.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to understand business drivers and become the internal SME related to key levers of industry and brand growth

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Macroeconomics, Statistics, Mathematics, or relevant field

  • 6+ years of hands-on forecasting experience and strong command of various data modeling techniques (linear/logistic regression, ARIMA, Clustering, time series, machine learning)

  • Strong SQL Skills

  • Experience with advanced data analysis tools and software (R, Python, SAS, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience working within cloud-based big data environments (AWS, Google Cloud)

  • Hands-on experience working with 3rd party and government data sources (NAICS, BLS, BEA)

  • Exceptionally strong skills in providing data-driven POVs to the business and strong story-telling skills

  • Very strong business-writing skills, ability to synthesize complex concepts, and translate econometric concepts to business opportunity

  • Proven experience influencing business partners through relevant and actionable analytics & insights

  • Strong planning, priority setting, and project management skills to manage multiple projects and resources in a fast-paced environment

  • Highly effective at cultivating relationships across diverse teams (statistical and technical teams as well as key business partners)
