Business Analyst
Job Description:
This position will collaborate with partners at all levels to gather data related to project management. They will build reports based on existing data related to project management. They will monitor, track, and report various metrics and data related to project management such as definition gate status, in-service dates, compliance to governance, etc (though no experience is expected in these areas). They will coordinate onboarding training for all new PMO members. They will assist leadership with large projects such as resource planning and requirements traceability though no experience is expected in those areas. Ideal candidate will be able to work independently, will have good experience with MS office tools, and will be excited to learn new skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Entry level role with conceptual knowledge in job discipline but with little experience.
- Documents user requirements for business processes and abide by those requirements for future projects.
- Supports content development for meetings with business and stakeholders to develop understanding of their operations to understand business requirements.
- Develops capability to translate business and design requirements into technical requirements.

SKILL SET
- Basic analytical skills.
- Basic understanding or how to interpret customer’s business needs.
- Basic knowledge of business process modeling and redesign concepts.
- Ability to develop professional presentations.
- Basic knowledge of project management principles, such as scope, deliverables, timeline and cost/benefits. Builds communication skills by supporting drafting reports with instruction from senior co-workers.
- Builds ability to communicate systems and procedural changes to end users through excellent written and oral communications.
- Basic understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices, business fundamentals, and performance metrics in a specific functional area (e.g., asset management, electric or gas operations, customer service, transmission and substation, distribution system operations, regulatory and external affairs, transmission operations and planning).
- Basic understanding of at least one iterative development methodologies (e.g., RUP, Agile).
- Basic knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of performance analysis (trending, root cause and gap analysis), benchmarking and audit compliance.
- Developing familiarity with specialized business technologies and applications (e.g., workforce management, outage management, mobile dispatch).
- Working proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
