DEPARTMENT BRIEF
This team is primarily responsible for the design and development of the Publisher Service, FactSet’s premiere cloud-based reporting platform. This service drives the reporting and batching functionality behind Publisher Manager (PUMA), Portfolio Guide (PG), and Portfolio Reporting Batcher (PRB), and pushing the bounds of what is possible for our clients to design, consume, and interact with their custom designed reports. One of the top corporate goals is the Portfolio Life Cycle, and this team is directly responsible for the last stage, reporting, in the Portfolio Life Cycle. We are focused on expanding into the “Digital Strategy” market with portals, components, and interactive data, and the Publisher Service is the heartbeat of that functionality. One of the best parts of this team is that its code base is very stable. Stability is the key to a balanced work life, and while this team is on-call, the curator rarely gets a page. Job Responsibilities
- Experienced software engineering with proven proficiency in development and deployment of software adhering to best practices and with fluency in the development environment and with related tools, code libraries and systems.
- Demonstrated ability to critique code and production for improvement, as well as to receive and apply feedback effectively.
- Proven ability to maintain expected levels of productivity and increasingly becoming independent as a software developer, requiring less direct engagement and oversight on a day to day basis from one’s manager.
- Focus is on developing software and increasing volume of work accomplished (with consistent quality, stability and adherence to best practices), along with gaining a mastery of the products to which one is contributing and beginning to participate in forward design discussions for how to improve based on one’s observations of the code, systems and production involved.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-5 years of industry experience.
- B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent
- Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration and Bash scripting.
- Good knowledge of a high-level programming language like Python, Perl, Java etc.
- Good knowledge on build tools Maven and Gradle build tools.
- Good knowledge of CI tools like Jenkins, bamboo, Teamcity.
- Good knowledge on the Binary repositories like Jfrog Artifactory.
- Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef, Ansible or an equivalent
- Working knowledge of Linux OS
- Experience with AWS services e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda etc
- Experience in using Redis, PostgreSQL
- Experience in working on a version control system like GIT.
- Has built continuous delivery pipelines(CI/CD) using tools/frameworks like Jenkins, Sonar etc.
- Should have a good understanding of Operating Systems and Networking Concepts.
- Container Management using Kubernetes & Docker.
- Should have a very good understanding of System Builds, Administration, Backup, Security.
- Ability to develop quick POC and showcase to Engineering team
- Ability to articulate and quickly adopt development best practices
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to work as a member of a team, including participating in peer code reviews and maintaining project and operational documentation
- Ability to work as part of a geographically diverse team
- Ability to create and review documentation and test plans
- Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical people
- Experience with the Agile / Scrum process across geographically distributed teams
