Minimum qualifications:
- 15 years of leadership experience in Technical Program Management, leading cross-functional teams including managers and leaders
- Experience using insights and data to inform technical platform development
- Experience leading the development of global technical capabilities in a matrixed environment
- Experience managing multiple executive stakeholders in program, project, or portfolio management
Preferred qualifications:

Experience in leading ML/AI/Tools or Technical functions, and/or experience in Operations or Management Consulting

About the job
As a Director for Technical Operations, you will be an excellent leader who can manage a portfolio of technical programs, develop solutions, and think beyond existing solutions/capabilities. This includes shaping the direction and future of the technical organization and leading a global team. You will be recognized as a resource for technical innovation, an expert in technical capabilities/advanced operations, and guide Geoโs technical operations execution.
You will develop the technical operations strategy for Geo Data Operations (GDO). You will initiate and lead multi-disciplinary technical projects, plan requirements with internal partners and deliver projects through the entire lifecycle. You will act as technical advisor to several project teams. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks, and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres, and it will be your job to keep all the players coordinated on the project’s progress and deadlines. You will partner with Engineering and Product teams across Geo to drive technical competency, operational performance, and global scale.
The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.
The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. Responsibilities
- Guide the GDO Technical Operations leadership to define, launch, and drive operational initiatives. Demonstrate thought leadership and an understanding of how Google shapes the industry.

Develop a network, have a sphere of influence to execute multiple programs, and be recognized as an expert in multiple functional areas.
- Translate business needs into actionable initiatives and influencing decision making, and deliver impact programs globally to evolve and transform GDOโs technical operations.
- Develop and deploy technical capabilities like Machine Learning, AI, Tools, and more to develop Geoโs operations. Design a robust operating model with partner terms to scale the capabilities and impact.
- Use technical knowledge and data driven insights to anticipate and solve Geoโs projects/problems across functional groups by creating programs and processes. Advocate for technical issues.
