Responsibilities:

Guidehouse is looking for a Sr/Lead Data Engineer to support one of our high performing teams supporting application and reporting systems. Team consists of experienced data analysts, software engineers, developers, DevSecOps and client environments. The team works directly with clients to implementing data analytics, data engineering, data gathering, data visualization, dashboarding, as well as a large application development team. The Sr Data Engineer will be responsible for supporting the team focusing on architecture, administration and maintenance of the critical platforms and tools used by the team. Providing team support covering reporting, ETL development and maintenance, data system availability, data environment administration, performance, and other improvements. The Systems Engineer will bring hands-on experience with the administering, maintenance, monitoring, performance, and providing team support and guidance. Resulting in a high performing data environment for data team, development team, and clients.
Sr/Lead Data Engineer will support a high-paced client environment and team of experienced full stack application developers, software engineers, data analysts, and quality assurance engineers. Sr/Lead Engineer will be responsible for developing DB Schemas, ETLs via Pentaho, supporting development of reports and data analytics built using Java, Angular CLI, Spring Boot, Postgres (EDB) architecture and Tableau all residing in a DevSecOps environment on prem and in cloud.

Sr/Lead Data Engineer will bring hands-on experience with reviewing and implementing requirements, SQL scripting, unit testing, peer reviewing, working with QA team to resolve code defects. Carrying a sense of urgency to ensure implementations are well built to adhereing to coding standards and prescribed development processes. Able to work effectively with the team to identify and perform root cause analysis of any defects. Sr/Lead Data Engineer should be performance minded. Be aware of business needs and the software functionality being created or maintained, inclusive of automated QA, security integration, and system monitoring efforts. With an ability to learn new development tools as the need arises. Provide mentorship of team mates that are more junior or are learning new technologies or standards.

Qualifications:


Required:
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust is contractually required
  • 7+ years minumum experience working with relevant technology stack
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong experience with Big Data concepts, Pentaho, ETL process, Reporting and Analytics and Transactional SQL, PL SQL, NoSQL database development
  • Extracting pertinent data and transferring it into the warehousing environment
  • Ability to analyze big-picture data needs
  • Experience with database performance
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with ability to resolve issues
  • Ability to work in Linux environment such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Open Shift, Core OS
  • Shows experience applying technical knowledge and experience to recommend and implement database schema structures, complex stored procedures, and solutions that achieve business reporting and analytical requirements.
  • Experience working as team lead for small projects with limited duration. Directs, monitors, reviews the work of team members. While contributing to coding efforts with the team.
  • Has experience collaborating with teammates, architects, business clients and stakeholders to document business requirements and create both functional and technical specifications.
  • Experience providing estimates and task planning as needed to support business cases and portfolio prioritization.
  • Responsible for achieving project schedule and functional objective

Preferred:
  • Experience in designing, coding, testing, debugging, maintaining, and documenting database schema, data dictionaries, and usage.
  • Familiarity with Spring Boot, Microservices, Restful API patterns and best practices
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Docker
  • Has experience using JIRA or an equivalent agile project management tool (i.e. Pivotal Tracker, VersionOne)
  • Following established software development standards and procedures and contribute towards their improvement.
  • Developing complex application features and creating technical designs.
  • Participating in design, peer and code reviews.
  • Researching, developing and writing complex high end, mission critical, role-based enterprise level computer programs requiring high degree of security and computational ability.
  • Reviewing and analyzing complex programming specifications to resolve issues.
  • Debugging code and troubleshooting skills independently
  • Analyzing and debug Application/Integrations root causing issues and able to create recovery plans.
  • Remediation of security, 508, performance related issues as they arise.
  • Automation of ETL process within Jenkins or other CI/CD pipeline tools
  • Data validation and testing practices of ETL’s
  • Performing application unit testing using Junit, JMeter, Nexus, SonarQube, RestEasy, Selenium, or Katalon
