Envision Your Experience
The Staff Data Engineer is responsible for managing the data platform and data in the Edgenuity ecosystem. Data can range from transactional SQL server or NoSQL data, streaming data, and batch data. This position generally works with an engineering or data engineering team in an agile, team-oriented environment. Daily activities can include working with product engineering to understand or design key data elements, working with data streaming or processing frameworks such as Apache Kafka or similar technologies, and manipulating data in Java, Python, etc. The Staff Data Engineer may also perform data analysis using traditional warehousing tools such as MS SQL or larger, big data platforms such as Hadoop or Hive.
Essential Job Functions
- Work in an agile and/or lean development environment.
- Take small-to-medium, defined stories and complete them with quality solutions and code in a respectable timeframe.
- Peer review work
- Participate in scrum backlog refinement, planning, daily standup, reviews, and retrospective meetings.
- Develop modern data pipelines, data streaming, and real-time analytics.
- Manage and mine data from various sources across data platform environments.
- Other duties as required.
Position Type: This is a regular, full-time position.
Location: In this US-based position your location will be remote.

Share Your Expertise
Experience, education, and qualifications essential for success in this role, include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Big Data or related field or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a hands-on, data-centric role with data engineering, architecture, streaming, or warehousing.
- Cloud engineering experience is required, with the preference of AWS.
- Unit testing/automation experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of machine learning tools and concepts preferred.
- Understanding of Agile methodology.
- Approachable team player with a strong desire to contribute to a collaborative effort.
