Description of Duties:

The Data Scientist supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:

• Collaborate with business units and end‐ users to create compelling and accurate data presentations based on the entire Data Analytics and Reporting service suite.
• Design and prototype data ingestion, cleaning, curation, storage and retrieval, concentrating specifically on analytics, statistical modeling, dissemination and presentation.
• Work with developers and data analysts from the Data Analytics team to build and maintain end‐ to‐ end user capabilities and interfaces based on business functional and performance requirements.

The successful candidate will:

• Have strong interpersonal skills and writing ability commensurate with programming skills, mathematical skills and statistical background.
• Be able to work both independently and in a fast‐ paced team environment.
• Be highly self‐ motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Have creative problem‐ solving abilities.
• Be able to work with minimal oversight.

This position is a full telework position

This position is expected to pay $185,300 – $195,300 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

This position will be posted for a minimum of 3 days. If a candidate has not been selected at that time, it will continue to be posted until a suitable candidate is selected or the position is closed.

The government client requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for any/all positions that will require travel.

Full vaccination (against COVID-19) is defined as: an individual must be either two weeks past the last shot of a two-shot vaccination sequence, or two weeks past the only shot of a one-shot vaccination sequence.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 18 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 16 years of general experience; Bachelor’s degree and 14 years of general experience; Master’s degree and 12 years of general experience.

• If this position requires travel selected candidate must be willing to provide proof of fully vaccinated (against COVID-19) status (the process of which must be completed prior to the anticipated start date)
• Must have 10 years of directly related experience in one or more of the following: Java, Microsoft or AWS Certified Solutions Developer, Elasticsearch, ELK Stack (or other Big Data) ecosystem, Cloudera, Kafka, Linux (Redhat), SQL, JSON, C++, Python, R, C#, Ruby, Agile methodologies
• Must have, or obtain within 60 days of hire, a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification
• Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

• Have experience with cloud based system architectures and related tools.
• Have experience with Cloudera, Kafka, Logstash, Redhat, SQL, JSON, C++, Python, R, C#, Ruby, Agile Methodologies.
• Have experience in large development initiatives, developing high volume database applications, data warehousing, complex shell scripting, Agile methodology and public or private cloud experience.
