Position Description

Lindsay Corporation is hiring a Enterprise Data Engineer within its Information Technology organization, reporting to the Manager of Data Services. This key role will be responsible for leading the development, testing, and delivery of high-quality data products in support of our data analysis and data science activities. This role will participate in green field development as we rapidly advance our data analytics capabilities. Furthermore, the role will have the opportunity to participate in several exciting research and development initiatives. You will work closely with the entire data services team as well as key individuals throughout the company.

Position Details

This is a full-time, salaried position that is based in our Omaha, NE global headquarters with a highly competitive benefits package including an annual bonus. Travel requirements will be very minimal but there may be some travel to various office locations and conferences. Hybrid working arrangements are available. This position has strong growth potential.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality data products to our data warehouse/data lake for consumption by data analysts, business analysts, and data scientists.
  • Port data products from a legacy data warehouse to modern data warehouse/lake architecture.
  • Quickly and accurately address technical inquiries related to data and reporting.
  • Build dimensional data models.
  • Orchestrate and monitor ETL tools.
  • Combine data from multiple internal and external sources including utilizing 3rd party APIs.
  • Champion data governance best practices throughout the organization.
  • Preserve data lineage to permit data validation and traceability.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify data sources and build data products.
  • Participate in both data analysis and data science activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of practical experience with a heavy emphasis on data.
  • Solid understanding of and experience building and implementing data warehousing and data lakes to support data analytics.
  • A strong desire to collaborate with coworkers to create high-quality data products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where constant iteration, improvement, and innovation is key to the success of the team.
  • Robust problem-solving skills, the ability to learn from doing, personal accountability, and a positive and professional attitude.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the following technologies and tools:

    • SQL
    • Data manipulation programming languages (e.g., Python, Scala, or R)
    • Data analysis and data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas)
    • Data visualization tools such (e.g., ggplot, Plotly, Matplotlib)
    • SQL / NoSQL databases (MS SQL, ProstgreSQL, Cassandra, etc.)
    • ETL tools (e.g., Infosphere, FiveTran, DBT)
  • Familiarity with and willingness to become an expert with the following concepts and tools:

    • Geospatial programming libraries and tools (e.g., GeoPandas, Shapely, and QGIS)
    • Image processing methods for use in extraction of modeling features
    • Spark: PySpark, SparkSQL
  • Familiarity with the following technologies and tools:

    • Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence tools (e.g., Tensorflow, Torch)
    • Analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, ThoughtSpot)
  • Strong communication skills (video, e-mail, and in-person)
  • Team oriented: able to engage with others to acquire information and complete project tasks
  • Interested in future technologies and software
