For 30 years now, Living Advantage, Inc., a 501(c)3, has been dedicated to helping at-risk youth. From the beginning, the mission was to provide housing, therapeutic treatment, educational support, and independent living skills to wards of the court in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. After 11 successful years, LA, Inc. aimed for a larger social problem to address—foster youth.
The Junior Data Analyst will be responsible for collaborating with our cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and help them develop tools for collecting, organizing and analyzing information. They will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
- Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Filter and clean data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
- Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
- Creating reports for internal teams, external clients and/or stakeholders
- Collaborating with team members to collect and analyze data
- Crafting presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings
- Assist with other tasks such as but not limited to data entry, as requested and needed
Qualifications:
- Need to be very detail-oriented to avoid errors and recognize errors that have been made.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Excel, SQL, Python, or R
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Data entry and word processing skills
- Technical writing skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to set and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in high-pressure situations
- Data visualization and reporting skills
- Team player with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work well in a diverse team environment
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, computer science or a similar field is required
- At least 2 years experience in field
