Data Scientist
W2
Cary, NC.
It is 2 days onsite in a week and 3 days remote.
12 Months Contract.
Our client is looking out for a Data Scientist who will be responsible for modeling complex business problems, discovering business insights, and identifying opportunities using machine learning, statistical, algorithmic, data mining, and visualization techniques.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/MINIMUMREQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES:
• Strong analytical skills with working knowledgeof basic statistical, predictive and optimization models
• Strong knowledge of Python or other statisticaltool language (SAS, R, etc.)
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Strong data preparation skills; be able to access,transform and manipulate Railinc and external customer data in its base form(e.g. Postgres, Snowflake, JSON).
• Strong knowledge of data visualization tools(e.g., matplotlib, SHAP, Quicksight) to present models and results to internaland external stakeholders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of machine learning models a plus
• Knowledge of big data engineering toolsets aplus
• Ability to work effectively with clients, ITmanagement, business management, project managers, and IT staff
• Ability to manage multiple activities in adeadline-oriented environment; highly organized and flexible
• Ability to work independently and jointly inunstructured environments in a self-directed way
• Ability to take a leadership role on engagementsand with customers
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to workeffectively with multiple internal customers
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/TRAINING:
Strong technical background with programming, mathematics,and statistics experience
• Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field (e.g.,applied mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, operationsresearch, business, economics) with relevant practical experience
• OR
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in aprofessional environment
• Advanced degree in quantitative field preferred
