What you will be responsible for:
THE ROLE:
The Data Science Sr. Analyst, in collaboration with members of Internal Audit and other Business Units, and in connection with individual projects, will analyze and evaluate large quantities of data. Leveraging your data analysis skills, you will support the creation of and contribute to the development of innovative approaches to answer business questions. The role will partner with stakeholders to define and integrate business needs and apply a data-driven analytical approach – from working with members of the Internal Audit team and other Business Units to identify their need for analytics, data preparation, analyze and interpret results by the analytic models. The role will constructively discuss your results and potential findings with members of the Internal Audit team and other MFS Business Units.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Working with Internal Audit and other BUs to answer business questions with data analytics solutions.
- Identifying and preparing the data (from internal and external sources) through coordination with other members of Internal Audit, other MFS business areas and IT.
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders and leaders to gather and synthesize relevant data, analyze, and support in the creation of final recommendations.
- Support BU audit engagement teams on individual projects that may have specific data analytic needs.
- Work with Internal Audit and other BU leadership to support the data analytics strategy, including the evaluation of continuous monitoring techniques, by leveraging data and supporting project teams on data analytics-related topics.
- Building models using analytical techniques. This will include descriptive, prescriptive, and other analytical techniques.
- Support Internal Audit Management in the development and execution of management reporting related to Departmental activities and projects.
- Support the development of and execute on periodic Internal Audit departmental trainings on data analytics.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Data Science and/or Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or another quantitative discipline.
- 2-4+ years work experience in a data analytics/science role.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, R and/or Tableau.
- Experience with analyzing complex, high volume, high dimensionality data from varying sources and both structured and unstructured.
- Advanced knowledge of machine learning /statistical techniques, data mining, regression, decision trees, text mining, etc.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and work effectively with people at all levels in the organization.
- Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively and willingness to understand the business implications of a wide variety of data.
PREFERRED Qualifications & Experience:
- Advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience at a public accounting firm or related consultancy is a plus.
