We are looking for a Technology Manager who has experience overseeing a team of DevOps Engineers building scalable cloud platforms and data products. Your team will develop products, tooling, automation, and provide technical expertise for the Data Products & Platforms team. You will be part of a group of experienced Technologists who create technical solutions that support the entire Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products segment—powering the interactions and experiences that create magic for our guests.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse and geographically distributed team of talented Engineers, as well as third party vendors.
  • Review and ensure the quality of cloud solutions and implementations
  • Partner with contributing teams to prioritize DevOps and platform needs
  • Build resource plans for project efforts, facilitate meetings, and deliver routine progress for milestones and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with platform Architects, Systems Engineers, and Lead Analysts on designing services and resources for the Guest360 portfolio.
  • Resolve delivery roadblock issues efficiently, in order to minimize the impact of project budget and timelines.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years technology leadership experience with a data/engineering team
  • 7+ years working as an Engineer/Scientist in a software development or cloud engineering team
  • Solid experience as a leader, with the ability to build and organize teams
  • Proven track record of engineering mentorship through new and familiar technologies and approaches
  • Provide a career path to individuals into a variety of roles and levels
  • Understanding of at least a few of the following core services: AWS IAM, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, SNS
  • Understanding of trade-offs between different data storage systems and architectures (data warehouses, SQL vs. NoSQL, partitioning, etc.)
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Typescript, Java or equivalent
  • Experience in Python (reading and reviewing code)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience running projects in Agile mode: Scrum or Kanban
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) – Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, etc.
  • Experience with data warehouses, data pipelines, and other big data technologies.


Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field


Preferred Education:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
