Department Overview
This position is for a motivated Mechanical Engineering graduate to participate with an Engineering Tools and Methods team of methods engineers developing parametric models, computer automation tools, and optimization workflows to explore multi-disciplinary design spaces. Automation tools include but are not limited to CAD, CAE, and post processing tools. Design space exploration generates data to be analyzed with Design for Variation techniques supporting optimization, probabilistic design and uncertainty quantification, leading to robust designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with a team of Structures Engineers to develop state-of-the-art high cycle fatigue (HCF) and low cycle fatigue (LCF) methods for use in evaluating the next generation of jet engine components.
Basic Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering bachelorโs degree program or related field
- Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident โGreen Cardโ holder due to government contracts
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Fluent in English (verbal/written)
Preferred Qualifications
- This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Desire to learn
- Desire to work in a creative, team environment
- Interest in parametric geometry and finite element modeling, and structural engineering
- Interested in both analytical work, as well as automation tools and methods
- Working knowledge of Python or Java programming is desirable
