Job Overview:

The role of Business Intelligence Analyst (BI) will be responsible for the front end of all reporting related functions within the IT Department. The role will be responsible for identifying business intelligence, reporting, data analysis, data mining, patterns discovery, and data visualization. The BI Analyst interacts with business and IT teams at all levels to ensure reliable, accurate, relevant, and appropriately processed data is available for business decision making. The BI Analyst is responsible for the creation of documentation to educate users on data analysis, the automation of canned reporting, and to provide ad hoc self-service processes whenever possible. The role requires a strong view of PHMCโ€™s change management process to ensure the delivery of tangible results and innovation to PHMCโ€™s business community. The role also requires the ability to define tactical plans to meet data security and quality benchmarks set by the DBA.

The BI Analyst must have data modeling exposure and the ability to analyze functional business processes and functional business requirements to help PHMC IT develop BI and data warehouse (DW) strategy. This requires working with several teams to gather and cleanse disparate, and dirty data to produce high quality results. Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required by management.

This role will work with application developers, systems, and business analysts, as well as network and systems administrators and the information technology management team. The role requires excellent analytical skills, time management skills, the ability to prioritize and multi task. Most important is the ability to make effective and timely decisions in alignment with departmental direction as required.


Work Schedule:

This is a full-time exempt position with a regular work schedule of five days and 40 hours/week. Work Hours described as Monday through Friday, 8:30am โ€“ 5:00pm. This position may be required to work some evenings and Saturdays during peak periods. Work primarily performed at 1500 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA.


Responsibilities:

  • Provides subject matter expertise for key BI core functions.
  • Provides design support for the development of business intelligence solutions.
  • Works on highly complex, cross-functional, and enterprise IT and BI solutions.
  • Initiates BI technical process from inception, design, development, testing, and delivery of BI solutions. Participates in BI projects management and review.
  • Gathers, validates, and assesses business requirements for an adequate BI solution.
  • Will participate in BI tools research, frameworks, and mechanisms for data analytics.
  • Stays abreast of BI products/tools and of business strategies and direction.
  • Adheres to current BI standards and provides recommendations to improve or develop new standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Designs, develops, and delivers end-user training and training materials.
  • Trains users, including management, to transform data into actionable information and to use that information correctly.
  • Contributes to knowledge sharing in BI, the tools, frameworks, and known best practices.
  • Develops and monitors data extract, transform, and load (ETL) using T-SQL/SQL, SSIS tools, and third-party tools.
  • Keeps IT management and others informed about work efforts and challenges that may affect normal work progress.
  • Performs other related duties as required by management.

Experience:

  • 3 years or more of experience in BI analyst position.
  • High level of proficiency in Business Intelligence functions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, attention to detail to produce accurate work.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge in the following technical tools required: SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, QLIK, or Tableau.
  • Advanced knowledge in EXCEL preferred
  • Healthcare setting experience preferred.
  • Quantitative research, statistics, R, Python, SAS, ArcGIS is a plus.

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Data science, computer Science, Information Systems, Business management, specialized training/certification from an accredited institution of higher learning or equivalent experience required.
  • Typically requires 3 or more year of BI Analyst or Business Analysis or related technical experience.

Education:

Bachelors or higher in Information Technology or related field.


Salary:

  • Commensurate with education and experience.
  • Grade 22.
