    REPORTS TO: Technology Services Applications Manager
    DEPARTMENT: Technology

    POSITION OVERVIEW
    Special School District is looking for an experienced analyst and reporting subject matter expert to support the districtโ€™s end user facing business intelligence (BI) function. The primary responsibility of this role will provide hands-on subject matter expertise for the implementation, support and monitoring of departmental and enterprise database management systems and applications. Position will oversee the migration of database structures, reports, and extract, transform, and load (ETL) packages from development and QA environments into the production environment. Monitor and manage all environments and report capacity and performance results to management. Strong knowledge of programming, scripting, stored procedures, and query skills are required. Duties include developing and advancing a comprehensive BI platform, gathering client requirements, creating reports, and ETL package development. Additionally, this role will interact with business and application development staff and should be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

    CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for developing visual reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards
    • Apply analytical thinking to translate data into informative reports and visuals
    • Responsible for report design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation. Has full technical knowledge and responsibility of all phases of systems analysis, programming, and maintenance of reports/ETL packages/databases.
    • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, and evaluating output requirements and formats.
    • Analyze data and information to promote process improvement, develop standards, and evaluate systems and workflow processes.
    • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize efficiency and quality.
    • Supports the implementation and integration of enterprise applications such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, student information systems, business intelligence reporting, and online business productivity and collaboration systems.
    • Collaborate with infrastructure, technical support, and development teams to ensure proper integration of all environments.
    • Fully responsible for problem management activities, such as issue resolution and root cause analysis.
    • Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new Information Technology software projects and initiatives to support and enhance current systems.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

    • Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques used in implementing and administering complex databases is required. Three-five (3-5) years of experience in this area is preferred.
    • Proven experience as a BI developer
    • Knowledge of Power BI development and administration is preferred.
    • Knowledge in developing visual reports, dashboards, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) scorecards using Power BI
    • Knowledge in making DAX queries in Power BI
    • Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is preferred
    • Experience using Git for source control
    • Knowledge of Visual Studio 2015, 2019 is preferred.
    • In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL frameworks.
    • Knowledge of OLAP database design and data warehouse design, and reporting is preferred.
    • Should have experience in prototyping, designing, and requirements analysis.
    • Adept in developing, publishing, and scheduling Power BI reports as per the business requirements.
    • Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative.
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
    • Excellent in analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports.
    • Ability to work independently or as a team is essential.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Education and Experience

    • Bachelorโ€™s degree computer science preferred.
    • Four+ years of related experience preferred.
