Position Purpose:

The Financial Data Engineer II is responsible for empowering the Data team to achieve its primary objectives: ingesting, mastering, and exposing real-time, event-driven data streams pertaining to the firm’s data assets.

Responsibilities:


Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Execute rapid raw data collection from source systems.
  • Target and implement efficient storage of data, and employ fast and reliable access patterns.
  • Engage in data-related extract, transform and load (ETL) design and operation.
  • Develop data-driven financial enterprise applications using knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and financial data to ingest, master and expose real-time, event-driven data streams pertaining to financial data assets.
  • Responsible for full stack software development, and apply system protocols, data flows, building blocks, interactions, and dependencies to complete software and automation development.
  • Drive financial and software engineering projects through development of software solutions.
  • Conduct tests and inspections, and build reports and calculations of financial data.
  • Design and implement improvements to existing and new system processes.
  • Analyze existing designs and processes to highlight efficiencies.
  • Write documentation using collaboration tools, including Confluence.
  • Maintain clear documentation for new code and systems used.
  • Document systems designs, presentations, and business requirements for consumption and consideration by the business.
  • Monitor and evaluate overall strategic data infrastructure and track system efficiency and reliability.
  • Identify and recommend efficiency improvements and mitigate operational vulnerabilities.
  • Utilize knowledge of enterprise architecture patterns and object and service oriented principles for financial data analysis, storage and implementation.

Qualifications:


Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Financial Engineering
  • Two (2) years of experience as Data Engineer or Financial Software Engineer
  • The two (2) years of experience must have involved data-driven financial software development.

Physical requirements/Working conditions:

  • Climate controlled office environment
  • Minimal physical requirements other than occasional light lifting of boxed materials
  • Dynamic, time-sensitive environment
