DUTIES:

Position will modernize and implement the transformation roadmap for Enterprise Data Office – Business Operations using a new data reference architecture leveraging AWS cloud, Talend, Snowflake and Big Data (HDFS, Hive, Spark, PySpark) tech stack; design moderate to complex technical solutions for specific business requirements by leveraging AWS Cloud,Talend, Snowflake and Big Data technologies; perform hands-on coding development work using various technologies: AWS Cloud, Talend, Python, Oracle SQL, Autosys scheduling tool, PySpark scripts etc. (e.g. independently write new and/or modify existing codes for moderate to complex technical solutions); perform unit testing of work by building test data and validating expected test results with actual test results; perform production incident analysis and code fix for production issues during post-implementation phase; focus on addressing challenges across legacy tech stack, data freshness issues, speed of deliver and quality; conduct detail source data analysis to identify data anomalies, data quality issues, data profiling and review data analysis results with business stakeholders to confirm if source data will be proper to be leverage for reporting/dashboard requirements; drive a technology step change by enabling business while simplifying the data environment and improving speed of delivery; write re-usable codes in Talend, Python and PySpark; build data structures in Hadoop for reusability and easier access for reporting tools; provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to all technical team members (e.g. conduct detail code walk-thru of junior developer work); conduct on the job training with junior developer in newer technologies such as AWS Cloud, Talend, Snowflake etc.); enable a high performing team that has a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and is focused on business outcomes; work closely with infrastructure teams (database, Hadoop/Unix administrators, autosys scheduling team etc.) to setup database/file structures/shell scripts and autosys jobs; responsible for knowledge sharing by conducting lunch-learn sessions and leveraged prior big data experience in technical forums; and, research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective solution for the systems design (e.g. AWS services, Talend vs Python, Hives vs native Oracle tables etc.).

Telecommuting permitted up to 60%.


REQUIREMENTS:

Position requires a Bachelorโ€™s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field plus four (4) years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Experience must include the following: Demonstrable experience with ETL, Data Integration, Big Data, and Cloud (AWS) Technologies; Demonstrable experience developing software code in on or more programming languages (such as Java, Python, Scala, Hive, Spark etc.); Demonstrable knowledge of Erwin modeling, Big Data Distributed Processing (such as HDFS, Spark, Pypspark), AWS, Data Analytical languages R, and Python; Demonstrable knowledge of Oracle, Talend, Unix/Linux Shell scripting, Autosys scheduling tool, Sub Version, version control Tools; Demonstrable data warehouse applications knowledge in financial/insurance domain; Demonstrable experience working with semi-structured data (XML, JSON); Demonstrable experience in building and automation of data ingestion in near-real time from cloud blob storage; Demonstrable experience working on change data capture (CDC) with Streams & Tasks; Demonstrable experience in Agile and Kanban Methodologies; and, Demonstrable knowledge of the system development life cycle, the client areaโ€™s functions and systems, and application program development alternatives. Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartfordโ€™s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$111,738 – $164,819
