Overview: Every Turnberry consultant belongs to a practice, an internal group of consultants and leaders with shared experience and expertise. Each of these practices aligns to one of the eight core services Turnberry offers to clients. As a Data Engineer, you will join Turnberry’s Data & Insights practice and service. Turnberry’s Data & Insights service helps clients who seek visibility into company data, lack a single source of truth for accurate data, desire advanced analytics solutions, have data governance needs to ensure data quality, or have specific data challenges that may require an assessment, proof of concept, or custom solution not available in a typical out-of-the-box analytics methodology.
Responsibilities:
- Orchestrate engineering projects and corresponding strategies between business units, data stewards, and development teams.
- Plan, execute, and manage the strategic integration of new data and data stores into existing systems and infrastructure throughout the enterprise, including introduction of Cloud services as applicable.
- Ensure that data engineering projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
- Ensure that integration/engineering planning and practices are aligned with strategic business goals and the company’s overall strategic vision.
- Develop standards and processes to support and facilitate engineering projects and initiatives.
- Revise data integration architectures when required to be compatible with changing business needs and client standards so that all legal, compliance, and operational requirements, such as data sovereignty, regulatory security and privacy policies, and service level agreements (SLA), are accounted for.
- Maintain high standards of data quality through the introduction and enforcement of information handling processes and organization of the data engineering processes.
- Collaborate with BI specialists to establish overarching strategies and service oriented architecture.
- Conduct research on emerging data engineering products, languages, and standards in support of procurement, development, security, and integration efforts in relation to the Cloud, BI, and big data management.
- Manage the selection, deployment, and maintenance of any data engineering & integration tools, be they as-a-service (DIaaS) or Data engineering On-premise, deemed appropriate for the organization.
- Collaborate with analysts, data stewards, developers, and system owners in the testing of newly-incorporated databases and integration measures.
- Lead testing phase of data engineering development in order to identify and remedy potential problem areas.
- Liaise with developers as well as engineers to address issues in data patterns and architecture.
- Build relationships with development and infrastructure engineering teams to gain an understanding of different data architectures and required functionality.
- Work with business associates to negotiate terms for SLAs when looking at Cloud Data Engineering
- Ensure the collection and coherent interpretation of the various business processes affected by engineering efforts.
- Work diligently to enhance or improve business processes via engineering, or, as necessary, minimize the impact of integration on those processes.
- Evaluate results of engineering projects, then report and make recommendations based on findings.
- Frequently compare data engineering solutions with those available in the market to assess and monitor levels of service provided by current vendors.
- Where applicable, investigate and qualify potential integration/engineering solutions in the Cloud, On-Premise, or in a Hybrid arrangement to better allocate resources.
- Review data quality, addressing any issues through the creation of new processes or adjustment of the data engineering architecture.
- Measure and manage SLAs of the data engineering solutions
- Where necessary, provide guidance to junior members of the team.
Qualifications:
- Experienced 7-12 yrs data engineer with extensive integration experience building data pipelines, data cleansing.
- Broad toolsets knowledge: Azure – data factory, Informatica, AWS and Snowflake etc.
- Comp Science, Math, MIS, Engineering degree requried
The salary range for this role is $50,000 to $85,000 or the hourly equivalent.
