As Business Intelligence Specialist, you will be part of a brand new team that will be crafting comprehensive analytics products specific to the goals and objectives of Hospital Operations leadership. These analytics will inform the most important governance decisions, as they relate to performance and efficiency. The primary focus will be Emergency, Trauma, and Observation services, with further project exposure into other service lines and priorities of UCLA Health System.

Specifically, you will optimize the use of data to inform strategy and produce results consistent with UCLA Health goals and priorities. You will be responsible for modeling complex problems, discovering insights and identifying strategic and pragmatic opportunities through the use of data analytics and visualization techniques. You will focus on developing relationships throughout the integrated health system in order to fully understand service related patient quality care, research and business needs. You will utilize advanced analytic skills in order to ensure that data is reliable, validated and useful. This role works collaboratively to understand presenting patient care, quality & business challenges and opportunities, and presents information that can be easily understood by all stakeholders.

• Minimum 3-5 years of demonstrated experience producing data visualizations, informing decisions, and designing ad-hoc analysis with Tableau, Qlik, or other Business Intelligence tools required
• Healthcare experience strongly preferred
• Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate up, down, and across levels of the organization.
• Ability to create, manage and enhance interdepartmental relationships
• Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a complex and matrixed team environment; experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to see the ‘bigger picture’ and identify tasks and objectives by how they fit
• Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn
• Clinical experience working in a hospital setting a plus
• Knowledge of SQL a plus
