Job Opening Summary
The Business Data Analyst develops and maintains decision support, data warehousing and reporting application systems to meet the information needs of the physician practice and College of Medicine. The Business Data Analyst provides high-level reporting and analytics for key business decisions, provides ad hoc reporting, maintains standard reporting and models and forecasts key business processes, using various databases and tools, including MS Office Suite, MS SQL Server, R and SAS. The Business Data Analyst monitors contract performance, including detailed analysis of the revenue cycle by payer and line of business to detect and correct any issues, particularly issues affecting timely cash flow, in addition to representing the interests of UF Health physicians during negotiations with payers, quickly modeling various rate proposals and reimbursement methodologies during negotiations. This role is also responsible for producing data for clinical, research and quality projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Gathering and documenting business and report requirements.
- Analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends, patterns and opportunities.
- Communicating analysis and interpretation to appropriate audience.
- Producing, publishing and distributing scheduled and ad hoc reports.
- Providing explanations and interpretations within area of expertise.
- Generating daily, weekly and monthly dashboard reports.
Job Opening Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, computer science, engineering, health care administration or other relevant discipline required. A graduate degree is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated computer skills in MS Office products, particularly Excel, are required.
- Demonstrated skills in Structured Query Language (SQL) and statistical analysis tools such as R or SAS, as well as knowledge of statistical techniques, are required.
- Demonstrated skills in data analytics is required.
- Experience with health care, SAP Business Objects and Epic is preferred.
- Ability to interpret health care quality initiatives (i.e., MIPS), interpret Managed Care contract language and analyze/evaluate physician reimbursement is essential.
- Creativity, strong analytical and organizational skills, proven ability in problem definition and resolution and attention to detail are essential attributes.
- Independent worker with ability to multitask and work in a challenging fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with senior leadership.
