Background Check
The Inspection Service criminal background check is conducted using United States information resources only (e.g., FBI
fingerprint check, state and county checks). A criminal background check involves a 5-year inquiry for any location where
the individual has resided, worked or gone to school within the United States or its territories. As a result of this limitation,
the criminal background checks of individuals who have not resided in the United States or its territories for the preceding
5-years may not be considered complete. The Inspection Service may be able to process inquiries for U.S. Citizens only,
but only if their time spent out of the country was spent as: a trailing spouse or dependent of someone working for the U.S.
government (military or civilian), a missionary, a student attending school in a foreign country, a Peace Corps participant, or
as an employee of a U.S.-based employer/company. If the Inspection Service is unable to perform a complete background

Functional Purpose
Designs, develops, implements, and maintains architecture solutions across a large enterprise data warehouse. Identifies
and implements components (e.g., hardware, software), tools, and processes to support proposed and existing solutions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leads project teams in the development of tailored architecture solutions to address organizational needs and
requirements; provides technical guidance, direction, and feedback to team members.
2. Develops solutions for Extract, Transfer, Load (ETL) processes and automation scripts using a variety of data warehouse
tools, techniques, and applications (e.g., Teradata, Oracle, Non-relational). Ensures solutions are designed for optimal
performance and accessibility; troubleshoots systems to resolve performance and functionality discrepancies.
3. Collaborates with stakeholders to identify and understand end user needs and requirements; translates organizational
needs and requirements into technical documentation, including design specifications and installation instructions.
4. Designs, tests, and evaluates proposed and existing solutions for business information systems. Ensures the architecture
design characteristics, including stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability are met.
5. Analyzes proposed and existing architecture system solutions to identify critical components (e.g., hardware, software),
interfaces, performance criteria, design concepts, and estimate associated costs. Develops business cases based on
analysis detailing the benefits and costs associated with each solution.
6. Develops and presents recommendations summarizing technical solutions for identified organizational needs and
requirements to senior management and internal stakeholders. Implements proposed technical solutions using the
appropriate database tools, techniques, and applications.
7. Researches industry advancements, emerging trends and insights, and industry best practices to inform the development
of architectural solutions.
8. Develops test plans and procedures to evaluate system performance against requirements; collaborates with developers
and programmers to ensure proper functioning of systems.

statements (e.g., multi-join), and to tune and troubleshoot queries for optimal performance.
4. Ability to oversee the work of others, including planning, assigning tasks, providing technical guidance, monitoring
progress, and evaluating performance.
5. Ability to perform research, analysis, and evaluation of existing and proposed business systems and procedures sufficient
to develop requirements and identify system solutions that achieve optimum performance and cost effectiveness.
6. Ability to define business systems solutions and system configuration cost estimates in detailed measurable terms.
7. Skill using Unix/Linux shell scripting to develop and implement automation scripts for Extract, Transfer Load (ETL)
processes.
