Come work with Genoa Healthcare as a Senior Data Engineer where your work will directly make a difference in people’s lives. Our mission is to serve the needs of those in the behavioral health and substance use disorder communities, and others who have complex, chronic health conditions. You will have an impact by delivering the data that Genoa relies on to serve our patients.
You will be joining our team at an important time in our data journey. We are planning on moving our current data infrastructure to modern cloud-based data solutions. You would play a large role in helping us modernize our systems.
Functions may include database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration; as well as data modeling, big data development, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development, storage engineering, data warehousing, data provisioning and other similar roles. Responsibilities may include Platform-as-a-Service and Cloud solution with a focus on data stores and associated eco systems. Duties may include management of design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance, ensuring strict data quality, and performing needs assessments. Analyzes current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities. Manages relationships with software and hardware vendors to understand the potential architectural impact of different vendor strategies and data acquisition. May design schemas, write SQL or other data markup scripting and helps to support development of Analytics and Applications that build on top of data. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the Data Engineering lifecycle including research, proof of concepts, architecture, design, development, test, deployment, and maintenance
- Design, develop, and implement data solutions that are scalable, secure, and reliable
- Deliver data solutions that transform data for meaningful analyses and analytics while ensuring operability
- Establish a deep understanding of the business and collaborate with Business SMEs to shape the solutions provided
- Design, develop, implement, and run data solutions that improve data efficiency, reliability and quality, and are performant by design
- Embrace continuous learning of engineering practices to ensure industry best practices and technology adoption, including Cloud Native solutions, Dev Ops, CI/CD, and Agile thinking
- Tech debt reduction / Tech transformation including open source and Cloud native adoption
- Maintain high quality documentation of data definitions, transformations, and processes to ensure data governance and security
- Provide code review for other members of the Data Engineering and Reporting teams

Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- 6+ years in a Data Engineering role with a focus on the Microsoft data stack: SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS
- Experience maintaining code and providing developer support for existing solutions
- Implementing and maintaining AWS and/or other Cloud Native solutions
- Highly skilled at using Enterprise ETL suites such as SSIS, Informatica, and/or AWS Glue as well as data modeling
- Excellent T-SQL coding chops
- Proficiency with at least one other programming language, such as Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data storage tools such as Snowflake and Databricks
- Experience working with Business Intelligence tools such Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight, and Excel Cubes / Power Query
- Expert knowledge of performance tuning, schemas, and SQL Server security
- Knowledge of Data Pipeline Orchestration Tools such as Airflow, Prefect, and Dagster
- Knowledge of data streaming tools such as Apache Kafka and Amazon Kinesis
- Comfortable with Git, pull requests, and peer code review
- MDX querying expertise
- Proficiency with build deployments using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, and Azure DevOps
- Continually updating job knowledge by studying new development tools, programming techniques, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks
- Passion for writing well documented and clean code that others can understand and support

Connecticut Residents Only: The salary range for Connecticut residents is $90,500 to $161,600.
