Summary
The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning is looking for a senior business intelligence analyst to transform the way data is sourced, analyzed, and organized to guide decision making across the college. You are someone with experience building complex financial models, what-if scenarios, transforming data into comprehensible information through statistical analysis, verification, and visual/contextual reporting. Reporting directly to the chief financial officer (our organizational chart), you will work with the Business Services team to perform complex business analysis, build dashboards and organize data across multiple units. You will present data in a clear and compelling visual way that allows for decisive action.
This job is situated in Ann Arbor and on-campus work is expected three days a week.
Responsibilities*
- Build complex financial models with multiple intersecting data sources/methodologies/flows and manage datasets.
- Develop comprehensive understanding of Taubman College’s financial/HR/student data sets and systems, the university’s enterprise-wide data warehouse, and departmental reporting structures to support institutional and hoc data analysis and report requests.
- Lead the development, implementation and management of a new financial modeling system using the tool Synario which allows for real-time what-if scenario analysis using complex logic.
- Make recommendations to integrate and improve the management, organization and presentation of data across multiple college domains including finance, human resources, student affairs and admissions.
- Create graphical representations including dashboards, infographics and reports.
- Provide back up to the senior financial specialist and financial manager.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- 3 or more years proficiency in query design and report writing tools like Tableau, Business objects, SQL, SAS
- 3 or more years experience with creating data visualization techniques for reporting purposes, developing dashboards and reports
- Expertise in storytelling and understanding of financial and other complex data sets
- Knowledge of database structures and data architecture relevant to the development of dynamic reporting.
- Advance proficiency using Excel (can perform complex functions), financial reporting tools and financial systems, and visualization/analytics
Additional Information
The salary range for this position is $90,000 – $100,000. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor transparency throughout the recruiting process.
