ABOUT THE DATA SCIENCE TEAM
Data is central to every decision we make and product we build at Varo. The Data Science team at Varo is small but we have plans to rapidly expand over the next year and beyond. This is a tremendous opportunity to be an early member and shape the current and future AI, data science and machine learning products at Varo.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Partner with product, business and engineers to help build personalized financial health, risk and fraud models
- Segmenting our users based on transactional and app behavior
- Proactively perform data exploration on user behavior to develop enhancements to our existing models
- Work with data engineers to scale and deploy above models in production
- Present research and insights in a clear and concise way to all levels within the company
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Passion to improve peoples financial lives
- Ph.D. or Masters in STEM field such science or engineering
- Able to balance attention to detail with swift execution
- Deep understanding of machine learning,optimization and statistical models
- Great communication skills
- Strong programming experience (python/R) plus experience with relational databases /SQL
- Ability to work independently and drive your own projects
- 3-5 years work experience as a Data Scientist
- NLP, fraud and risk experience is a strong plus
