Position Summary

The Data Analyst is a member of the Operations team, comprised of three key functional areas: analytics, research, and technology solutions. The Data Analyst should be passionate about data and interested in learning new methods to better analyze, assess, and manipulate data for use in informing strategic business decisions. Will work on a multitude of projects including, but not limited to: creating annual reports, fulfilling data requests, creating dashboards, and data systems support and training.


Job Description


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support collection and organization of data throughout the student lifecycle.
  • Assist in analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data and information.
  • Interpret data using statistics and predictive modeling to discover patterns and assess and investigate potentials issues with large data sets.
  • Compile and develop ad hoc and end-of-year reports, dashboards, and analyses.
  • Verify the accuracy and validity of data collected and correct any errors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher education setting, specifically working with current technology and systems.
  • Experience in database management, including knowledge of relational databases.
  • Experience in manipulating and analyzing large, complex data sets.
  • Statistical, mathematical, predictive modeling experience.
  • Experience with visualization/analysis software such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTables, V-lookups).
  • Proficiency using at least one statistical software package and experience with forecasting and modeling.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of information with strict attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data and use it to drive business decisions.
  • Ability to collaborate with others, working independently and with team members.
  • Ability to handle a variety of projects and tasks simultaneously and balance competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a diligent fashion to ensure timelines are followed closely and met consistently.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of analytical problem solving methodologies.
  • Prior use and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Salary Range

$22.25 – $34.45 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
