Job Summary

In this role you will deliver enterprise data capabilities, data quality, and advanced data analysis solutions. You will lead in design, development, coding testing, and debugging data and analytic systems. Demonstrate broad knowledge of complex business processes and capabilities. Conducting business process analysis, needs, assessments, and participate in design sessions with Architects in aligning information technology solutions with business initiatives. Lead specialized projects where you will provide technical expertise in software design and testing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Drives data quality and technical processes effectively to all levels of the organization.
• Contributes strategic vision and integrates a broad range of ideas regarding applications and software development.
• Contributes to data architecture, design modeling and strategy for the enterprise.
• Designs analytic applications, while advising our BI partners.
• Contributes to data governance and security for the department.
• Negotiates and controls direction of project and change management development life cycles.
• Leads, mentors, and collaborates well with teams of regarding data quality and governance.
• Leads and oversees design/modeling sessions and team code reviews.
• Resolves technical design conflicts when the arise.
• Oversee the coordination of design with business analysts and users to determine requirements.
• Leads and performs overly complex analyses of system requirements and of existing business processes and information systems.
• Creates strategies and plans for data capacity, security, life cycle data management, scalability, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and archiving.
• Displays knowledge of software methodologies and data architecture.
• Display knowledge of MDM, applications, microservices, ETL, and software development.
• Leads software development methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
• Guides discussions in data quality and data profiling.
• Participates in daily stands, sprint backlogs, and planning.

Principal Data Engineer Responsibilities

• Mentors and leads data quality teams.
• Advises and works along side scrum masters to coordinate project planning.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree (accredited), in computer science, MS, or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience.
• Ten (10) years of previous experience in Software Development in addition to education requirement.

B. Preferred Experience

• 10 years of Enterprise in Data Quality or related experience in Statistics, BI, DW, Data Management.
• Familiar with Cloud Architecture (AWS) Databases (RDBMS, NOSQL) and Cloud DW (Snowflake, Redshift)
• 5 years of hand on experience with SQL.
• Data schema such as star schemas, relational and data vault.
• Semi-structure formatting such as JSON, XML and RestAPI.
• ETL experience with Matillion.
• Data modeling (SQLDBM) and deploys developed using DataVault methodology.
• BI experience with Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, or microstrategy.
