Job Summary and Qualifications
The Data Engineer will focus on scope, design, and development of various data ecosystems, best practice ETL processing, and data modeling. This role will collaborate with internal analytic team members to gather requirements, understand business cases, provide data mapping, and support in development of new data pipelines. The data engineer will often be working with large and sometimes unstructured datasets associated with delivery of healthcare to include claims, HL7 interfaces, CRM systems, and additional unstructured data pipelines. Ultimately, the data engineer will be responsible for providing structured relational data sources to the Analytics and Care Team through a data warehouse, data cube, or data feed utilizing developed processes and structured approaches.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Function as a domain expert and primary developer for building out data ecosystems through best practices and innovative approaches
- Develop processes for data modeling & ETL for various data pipelines that become the standard for the organization
- Employ a variety of programming and scripting languages to join data together from various systems and sources in an efficient and flexible storage solution
- Affinity for innovation to approach design and solution of data storage and retrieval
- Refine and develop data governance strategy for the organization
- Refine and develop data quality program
- Ensure data integrity in partnership HCA data analytic resources
Qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 7+ years of experience within healthcare technology and analytics domain with focus on data platform scope, design, and development
- This position requires in-depth knowledge of administrative medical claims data as well as EMR and healthcare exchange systems including but not limited to HL& 2.x, 3.x, FHIR, & HIE integration profiles
- Understanding of general medical terminology and healthcare code sets
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of multiple object-oriented languages/tools involved in data management, preferably; T-SQL, SSMS, Shell Scripts, Python, Azure Cloud (specifically Data Factory & Azure Synapse), Redshift
- Experience creating infrastructure for operationalizing machine learning and predictive models
- Knowledge and experience working with PowerBI is helpful but not required
- Possesses strong organizational and process analysis skills
- Excellent communication skills [verbal and written] are essential
- Possesses interpersonal skills to work in a high profile and fast paced team environment
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects within deadlines
- A preference for an environment of discovery and uncertainty
