Zurich North America has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join the Information Technology Services team as a Lead DevOps Engineer within our Enterprise Integration and Data Management team out of our prestigious headquarters in Schaumburg, IL.

As the Lead DevOps Engineer, this team member will support and advise on the code development of DevOps platforms for On-prem containerized applications utilizing tools such as Terraform and will be tasked with building the DevOps application platform for Azure public cloud. Additionally, this individual will also become responsible for engineering the DevOps application platform for AWS (Amazon Web Services). An understanding of customer business requirements and in integrating the application performance improvements that are aligned with the business requirements will be paramount.

The Lead DevOps Engineer will be responsible for the operations control in managing and maintaining the Big Data environment and will take a lead role on installation and management of Azure Cloud and On-premise data platforms.

This individual will also be responsible for developing project pipelines, identifying security concerns, and setting the cloud CI/CD for active projects utilizing DevSecOps and will act as a specialist that is responsible for developing specialized tools for DevOps security. The

professional individual should be proficient in at least one programming language, such as Java, .NET, PHP, Python, Ruby, or Perl, in order to work effectively with other teams inside the organization. Additionally, the Lead DevOps Engineer must be familiar with Azure, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes, as well as the proper use of development tools such as GitHub and dependency management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 7 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area
    OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 9 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good communication and presentation skills

  • Application Optimization experience

  • Business Objects application experience

  • Big Data application experience

  • Power Business Intelligence experience

  • MS Azure Application experience

  • Flow optimization in delivery process

  • Application automation experience

  • Consulting background is a plus

  • Working with distributed teams and customers

  • Cultural awareness and culture of shared responsibility and collaboration

  • Agile experience
