Job Location: Arvada, CO
Position Purpose
Responsible for building, managing and optimizing data pipelines. Moves data pipelines effectively into production for key data and analytics consumers across the organization, providing curated data for data and analytics. Responsible for ensuring compliance with data governance and data security requirements while creating, improving and operationalizing these integrated and reusable data pipelines.
Job Functions / Scope of Authority
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Design, develop, amend, optimizes, and certifies database schema designs to meet system(s) requirements.
- Prepares datasets for reporting, Business Intelligence and prescriptive and predictive modeling.
- Analyze data requirements, application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schema(s).
- Work closely with data stakeholders to understand and maintain focus on their analytical needs, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers.
- Proactively analyze data to answer key questions from stakeholders or out of self-initiated curiosity with an eye for what drives business performance, investigating and communicating areas for improvement in efficiency and productivity.
- Gather, combine, analyze and organize raw data, build ETL processes and other data pipelines.
- Work with data from varied sources, including files, Application Interfaces (APIs, Web services, etc.) and publicly available data
- Identify potential data sources, explore opportunities to improve data quality and reliability.
- Designs and implements Integration solutions in multiple technologies such as SSIS and Integration Platforms.
- Collaborate with BI developers, Data Scientists, Project Managers, Business stakeholders and others on several projects and efforts.
- Participate in metadata management implementation discussions that enable how data will be used for business reporting and analytics.
- Establish and promote best practices, frameworks, and processes across data analytics.
- Drive technical innovation by exploring new analytics platforms and technologies, uncovering new use cases with data, and staying current with the data landscape.
- Demonstrates a respectful attitude towards customers and coworkers that promotes teamwork, open communication, and effective customer service.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES*
- Strong technical and communication skills (both written and verbal) for a variety of audiences.
- Strong knowledge of data retrieval, data modeling, data warehouse design and predictive modeling.
- Strong knowledge in SQL Databases.
- Strong knowledge working with complex data structures, data reporting, and data visualizations.
- Fluent in data fundamentals: SQL, data manipulation using a procedural language, statistics, experimentation, and modeling
- Ability to solve complex problems with simple and elegant solutions.
- Learns quickly when facing new problems; a relentless and versatile learner; open to change; analyzes both successes and failures for clues to improvement; experiments and will try anything to find solutions; enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks.
- Solid understanding of data standards/procedures and data governance and how the governance and data quality policies can be implemented in data integration projects.

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY: *
Receives general supervision under the direction of the Data & Analytics Manager. Plans daily work activities and prioritizes tasks. This is a newly created functional team, and few precedents and/or procedures are readily available. Originates and develops very complex ideas in new and undefined areas which have an impact in all areas of the organization. Defined procedures utilized include: Standards for customer service, Information Technology Department policies and procedures, City policies and procedures, employee handbook, purchasing guidelines, and organizational values.
Financial Accountability:
Makes recommendations to the supervisor for budget allocations that pertain to this functional area.
Working Environment / Qualifications
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
The work environment/physical activities described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.
Work is primarily performed in an office/switch room environment with low/moderate noise levels. Physical effort and activities include: moderate physical activity by handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently. On occasion required to work standing on a ladder, or on a building roof. Exposure to noise and cold in the switch room.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE): *
Bachelorโs Degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in desktop and technical support. Experience in communicating technical information to all levels of staff. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree with seven (7) years relevant experience in lieu of education. Valid driver license required.
