Job Detail:

At Cox Automotive Data Solutions (CADS), we provide integrated products and services to facilitate all stages of a vehicle’s life cycle using data driven intelligence and advanced modeling techniques to support over 30 brands across the automotive industry like Manheim, KBB, Autotrader, Vauto, etc. Our team of experienced data scientists with the Domestic Valuations team are responsible for developing and maintaining highly accurate pricing guides for new and used vehicles in the US auto market. We use various techniques ranging from simple regression to complex ML models to provide accurate vehicle values, historic trends, future predictions, offer products, etc.

Our data scientists are responsible for leading the development of advanced analytics models to solve our customers’ problems through innovative products and services; and inform internal business operations and strategy. They will work closely with product, engineering, and our business stakeholders as the subject matter expert on the application of mathematical modeling across our family of leading automotive brands. The Data Science Intern will work under the direction of senior data science staff. The scope of work includes the preparation and analysis of data, basic modeling and code migration.

Primary Duties/Key Responsibilites

  • Under the direction of senior team members, execute well-defined analytics tasks, e.g., data preparation, data analysis, descriptive statistics, statistics, and ML models.
  • Helping unified valuation algorithm testing, performance benchmarking and gap analyses with existing products
  • Participating parts of product integration research
  • Assisting our production code migration from one platform/language to another
  • Present findings to peers and data science leadership
  • Directly reports to Manager, Data Science.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Currently enrolled in a related degree program such as Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or related quantitative field.
  • Internship position is located in Atlanta, GA, Cox Automotive does not provide a housing allowance.

Preferred

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • Developing and implementing data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy, Strong knowledge of and experience with common data analysis tools like Excel is required.
  • Experience with SQL query language to be able to acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining databases.
  • The ability to present findings clearly and concisely to team members and data science leadership.
  • An understanding of one or more of the following strongly preferred:
  • Statistics: Descriptive statistics, linear regression, and logistic regression; familiarity with SAS or Python is preferred Machine Learning: Basic algorithms, including classification, regression, and clustering.
  • Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute the duties of the position successfully within required timeframes in order to meet business requirements.
