Job Description

TITLE: Principal Data Science

DUTIES: Discover Products Inc. seeks Principal Data Science in Riverwoods, IL to work closely with management to execute analytical initiatives. Provide thought leadership and strategic thinking to solve business problems by leveraging techniques, including segmentation, optimization, advanced analytics, and machine learning. Closely monitor performance metrics and KPIs to ensure goals are met and course correct as necessary. Provide thought leadership and strategic thinking to translate business problems into analytical frameworks, and independently recommend actions and provide business insights. Operate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on statistical analysis, test and design of experiments, analysis methodology, modeling and application, and financial impact analysis. Collaborate with cross functional partners to understand their business needs, and formulate and complete end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering, analysis, ongoing scaled deliverables, and presentations. Facilitate implementation of work product and ensure accuracy. Establish and maintain effective performance tracking. Identify improvement opportunities, form hypotheses, and propose, design, and implement tests to drive strategy enhancement and optimization. Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics, including customer segmentation, optimization, prescriptive analytics and machine learning algorithms, and provide recommendations to solve business problems. Lead the development of analytical capabilities with the aim of creating long-term strategic data/analytics assets for the company. Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, and create visual displays of quantitative information. Develop and automate reports, and iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for analytical needs. Consistently follows standard work processes and documentation requirements. Recommend improvement to work processes to increase efficiency while maintaining quality of work. Continuously improve technical and leadership skills through training and development. Promote a risk-aware culture to ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Analytics, Integrated Marketing Communications, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field of study and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation: performing data manipulation and presenting data; managing relational databases to create and access data tables; executing advanced statistical techniques, including utilizing decision trees to cluster and perform data analysis and segmentation; and utilizing technologies, including SQL, SAS, Python, and R. In the alternative, employer will accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in one of the above-listed fields and (4) years of experience in the above-listed skills.
