The CCB Data & Analytics team is the engine that powers Chase with insights that are used to create competitive advantages for our business, with an emphasis on creating value for our customers. Unifying data and analytics talent across Chase, the team encompasses a variety of Data & Analytics disciplines, from data governance and data strategy/partnerships, to reporting, data science and machine learning. You will partner closely with our technology partners, leveraging the cutting-edge data and analytics infrastructure they have constructed to ensure front-line impact through transformational projects.

Within the broader CCB Data & Analytics team, the CCB Focused Analytics Solutions Team (FAST) is responsible for working across CCB to develop and execute actionable, data-driven analytical solutions, while providing the foundation for future Data & Analytics talent and leadership.

The team leverages Big Data in a consulting-style environment that places a premium on creative problem solving and client interaction, while working on a wide range of strategic, highly visible projects across CCB D&A, including : Consumer Banking, Home Lending, Card Services, Business Banking, Digital, Wealth Management, Sales Science and Auto Finance.

What to expect

FAST Data Science Associates will join the team as part of a rotational program in a consulting-style environment, gaining exposure to a variety of analytical techniques, lines of business and datasets while collaborating on projects that can range from 4 weeks to a few months. FAST associates will spend ~22 months uncovering creative and innovative ways to solve business problems using a range of analytical methods, including machine learning, statistics, optimization and data engineering.

You will begin your time on FAST with an induction month training curriculum aimed at providing you and your new colleagues with the foundational tools and support system required to succeed. You will continue to receive comprehensive on-the-job training throughout the program, allowing for exposure to the breadth of analytics and specialization in the track of your choosing.

As you approach graduation from the program, you will work with our team to define the next step in your career – whether that be a role within the broader CCB Data & Analytics organization or staying on FAST as an experienced member mentoring future classes while continuing to lead projects across the organization.

As a Data Science Associate, you will make a meaningful impact by:

  • Partnering with project leads and fellow data scientists to design & execute analytical solutions that maximize business value
  • Collecting and cleaning data from diverse data sources and locate new data sources, building and testing statistical/ML approaches, supporting the plan to operationalize and scale prototypes, and more.
  • Effectively communicating proposed solutions and data-driven insights to your project team and internal clients
  • Collaborating across FAST and CCB D&A teams to deliver the best solution for clients, leveraging a wide range of internal resources
  • Building an in-depth understanding of the business and available data assets supporting each line of business
  • Expanding the technical toolkit that Chase uses to solve analytical problems by testing and evaluating cutting-edge statistical/ML techniques and technologies in the context of project work

About you

We’re looking for highly motivated team players with a passion for applied data science and the initiative and insight to develop innovative solutions.

Key Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Master’s degree program, with an expected graduation between December 2022 and August 2023

    • Preferred majors include quantitative disciplines, such as: Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, etc. with graduate level course work in statistics, data analytics, statistical modelling and/or machine learning
  • Experience in SQL, Python or R
  • Awareness of Big Data technologies & their applications
  • Attend college/university in the U.S.

Desirable Skills:

  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate across teams using a consultative approach
  • Hands-on exposure to standard analytical tech stacks (e.g., Jupyter Notebooks, Hadoop, AWS, Spark, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience with data wrangling, including combining multiple data sources into a final data asset and/or aggregating a large dataset into a purpose-built asset
  • Self-starter, demonstrated strong work ethic and an ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Strong track record of success as demonstrated by professional/educational background and accomplishments
  • Data Science Boot Camp certifications and/or work experience as a data scientist are a plus
