Corporate Control Management – BI & Analytics Product Owner/Business Analyst (Associate) – Jersey City, NJ or Plano / Houston, TX

Summary Seeking an experienced Product Owner/Business Analyst to lead the strategy and development of key reporting solutions for the Firm’s Operational Risk application.

Description

In this role, you will lead the vision, strategy, and oversee the development of reporting for the firm’s Operational Risk application and ensure client reporting needs are met. The reporting suite includes BI platform driven dashboards and analytics, Cognos reports, and other visualizations. As a Product Owner, you will leverage your ability to build relationships with key stakeholders to gain insight into the business priorities in order to translate their needs in to product requirements for the Technology development teams . You will be accountable for each incremental feature that is developed, the final product, and take a primary role in inspecting and evaluating the product’s progress through each iteration. You will work at the intersection of analytics, user experience, and product development by brainstorming and designing reports through detailed analysis of operational risk data. Hands on experience in story writing and product development, and a keen eye toward program, project, and analysis completion to meet deadlines are vital for success in this role.

The Product Owner role sits in the Control Management Controls Room team within the broader Control Management organization. Control Management is designed to ensure a strong and consistent control environment across the firm from front office to back office, and the team supports all Lines of Business and Functions. The Control Management Controls Room team works collaboratively with other control disciplines and oversees existing control functions/reporting as well as the development of new control functions and reporting. The team’s objective is to empower the firm’s broader Control Management organization with risk-based information to manage their control environment. One way we achieve this is by managing and developing applications and tools to monitor, report on, and help mitigate operational risk for the Firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate higher level strategy and requirements from internal stakeholders into actionable tasks for the Agile development teams
  • Serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders and development teams; ensure that goals are clear and the vision is aligned with business objectives
  • Responsible for clearly defining user stories with detailed acceptance criteria and prioritizing backlog
  • Design basic mock-ups based on stakeholder reporting needs and requirements; Ensure that there is buy-in from stakeholders on all key decisions
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of risk and control program strategies and apply this knowledge to improve your product, determine solutions, and resolve issues
  • Own risk identification, mitigation strategies, impact analysis, resolution, and communications to stakeholders
  • Establish an open line of communication with key stakeholders to understand business needs and anticipate new requirements as the product evolves
  • Partner with the Project Management team to ensure the Product’s progress is reported accurately on status reports
  • Responsible for SIT/Development and UAT testing; Define use cases and approaches for Technology and stakeholder testing in clear and easily understood formats
  • Partner with the UAT teams to ensure testing scope, scripts, and timelines are established and reported accurately on status reports
  • Manage or participate in multiple project work-streams concurrently
  • Participate in Scrum meetings and product sprints
  • Participate in sprint showcases to review new features and in sprint retrospectives to ensure the team is improving with each sprint
  • Take initiative and execute independently; effectively prioritize business problems based on urgency and relevancy

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in writing business requirements as a Product Owner / Business Analyst, preferably in a data intensive application
  • Knowledge of the Agile processes and principles
  • Experience in one or more product development roles, such as development, design, user experience and quality assurance
  • Expertise in writing user stories with acceptance criteria
  • Experience using JIRA
  • Experience in creating UI mockups/prototypes;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Experience with data analysis, and testing data intensive applications/reports/dashboards preferred
  • Flexible and adaptive; demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced demanding environment
  • Experience working with varied levels of management
  • Experiencing working in both team and independent environments
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment
  • Advanced skills for MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Financial service experience in Controls, Risk Management, Audit, Strategy, Compliance (or other like-experience) preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or related field
