National Grid is hiring a Senior Data Specialist for our Data Management Department in Waltham, MA.

Job Purpose

This role provides a vision for business-wide data activities and champions for data ownership and stewardship, standardization, accessibility, and governance for (US) wide gas business unit. This role will develop and maintain the data capture and recording capabilities to a specific area of our Gas Business Domain. Our Data is paramount to ensure our Gas Business Unit as the latest and most accurate data to make decision on the safe integrity of the transmission and distribution systems and transactional data sets including our work on the assets which is consistent with company objectives, strategies and policies and in full compliance with company, governmental codes and regulations.


Key Accountabilities

  • Analyze and monitor all related application/data to make sure everything is working correctly and properly updated when needed.
  • Act as the data lead for their area of focus on data which is not limited to data quality, access to data, and data security and able to relay to our Business/Process Leads the data issue at hand and its remediation
  • Ensure the data change process is followed for their data area while partnering with our data governance team, the data owners, and ensure end-to-end data lifecycle is administered and utilized within each region
  • Capture the data requirements for the data conversions and ensure data quality of the area of focus
  • Coordinate with deployment team and the governance on the prioritization of the fixes/issues/defects and enhancements/new capabilities
  • Properly train the area of focus in utilizing Informatica Data Quality scorecards/PowerBI dashboards
  • Own and manage data validation processes, resolve weaknesses, and manage risks while managing the IT stakeholders and the Business stakeholders
  • Ensure all the data artifacts for the areas are up to date (Data Business Rules Dictionary, Asset Specs, Asset Classifications, Domains, and Measurements).
  • Lead and support to gather functional data requirements for your focused area
  • Establish and lead Data Quality activities for your focused area


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred with 4 years of related experience or Master’s degree in a Quantitative Domain with 2+ years related work experience in:

    • Data Quality (Informatica Data Quality, Prefer Einstein Analytics)
    • Systems programming (Prefer SQL, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), PowerBI)
    • Applications (Maximo, Salesforce, Field Service Lightning)
    • GIS Systems (Prefer knowledge of ArcGIS, ESRI, Lemur)
    • Cloud (preferably Azure)
  • Strategic self-starter with excellent computer & data set skills and an advocate for data analytics value across business and to diverse audiences
  • Experience conducting structured business analysis and generating well-defined requirements and employing of contemporary data management and maturity assessment frameworks
  • Proficiency in data classification for security, usage, protection, and enterprise communication
  • Self-aware individual who can effectively manage stakeholders and build relationships across all levels and functions
  • Effective communicator able to communicate at all levels within the organization

Salary

$105k to $123k a year
