Job Summary:

Westat is seeking a Research Analyst to join our team engaged in social policy and economic research. This early-career position will support research in the areas of food and nutrition, labor and workforce development, family support and aging, transportation, and military and Veterans. The successful candidate will have interest in building their skillset in data collection, data analysis, and project management and engaging in professional development activities.

This position is remote-eligible.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide research and administrative support to project teams employing various methodologies and working across social policy content areas.
  • Participate in and organize professional development activities related to innovations in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility; team and client engagement; data science and data visualization; and project management.
  • Support data collection activities, including survey administration, cognitive interviews, in-depth interviews, site visits, focus groups, coding qualitative data, and background research.
  • Support data analysis activities, including cleaning datasets, maintaining databases, recoding variables, and reviewing data tables
  • Contribute to project management activities, including scheduling meetings, taking notes during meetings, contributing to client reports, coordinating expert and advisory panels, and monitoring project schedules.
  • Draft and maintain work instructions, study procedures, and other study materials.
  • Perform activities under supervision of senior staff.


Basic Qualifications
:

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology or related social science field and 2 years of experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with and interest in supporting social policy and economic research.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with one or more data visualization software tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) or open-source programming languages (e.g., R, Python)

About this role:

  • Interpret, evaluate, and resolve where possible telephone, email, and internally assigned inquiries pertaining to the functional operation of all installed and supported applications, including associated hardware and software.
  • Analyze moderately complex inquiries and determines appropriate steps to resolve problems with treasury management applications. Consult with more experienced technical support staff or management when appropriate course of action is unclear.
  • Maximize performance and efficiency for application end-users. This support can be related to specific product or client’s application usage within the Vantage platform in general. Resolution is achieved through a combination of technical setting adjustments in the user’s environment, as well as more general tips and consultation about efficient and effective use of treasury online applications.
  • Monitor production issue trends and communication of client reported defects or other feedback. In this role, team members are responsible for bringing global system outages or client reported application defects to management’s attention, as well as capturing necessary information from the end-user to assist technology teams in troubleshooting or analysis.
  • Create a positive client experience for customers engaging the team for treasury application technical support. This experience is measured by direct surveys sent to users the consultant has supported.
  • Whether a technical solution is available or not, it is paramount the client has the best experience possible by providing all alternatives and accurate delivery of technical information.
  • Act as a liaison between customer and product management/technology development teams for complex issues to coordinate satisfactory technical issue resolution.

About this role:

Wells Fargo Corporate Properties Group (CPG) manages the corporation’s operational portfolio, which includes approximately 70MM SF (~5,200 locations) of predominately US based commercial office space, operations & data centers, and retail distribution network.

As a member of the CPG Business Intelligence team, this role will be responsible for leading the reporting and analysis for several CPG and enterprise initiatives which may include Sustainability, Process & Governance, and Workplace Design & Experience.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead cross-functional complex initiatives with broad impact and act as key participant in large-scale planning for the Business Intelligence functional area that enable clear and consistent delivery of insights
  • Review and analyze complex, multi-faceted, longer-term business and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of data aggregation and visualization methodology to drive user-centric diagnostic analytics and dashboards
  • Make decisions in complex situations requiring solid understanding of data structures, domain-specific knowledge and the end user experience that impact the final data visualization product, which includes dashboards, reports, insights, or analyses
  • Influence and lead a broader work team to deliver data and visual outputs and new initiatives to inform strategy and decision making by the company
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level to senior managers to resolve issues and achieve goals related to assessing business needs and producing actionable insights and trends, leveraging data visualization and business intelligence
  • Lead projects, teams and serve as a peer mentor
  • Work to drive adoption of insights and metrics as a resource for the company to enable a data-driven decision-making approach


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of business intelligence and data visualization experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years developing Tableau dashboards


Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years developing reports in Power BI Report Builder
  • Esri / GIS (Global Information Systems) experience developing maps with multiple data sources
  • Strong understanding of data management and SDLC principles
  • Proficiency writing SQL code for Microsoft SQL Server


Job Expectations:

  • Gather requirements from internal partners including data, visualizations, and functionality
  • Diligently complete all required documentation and Software Development Life Cycle processes
  • Independently manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Work in a team environment to share workloads and best practices
