As part of our interdisciplinary team of life scientists, clinicians, and bioengineers, the Junior Data Scientist will contribute to our oncology detection program, focusing on the application of data science and machine learning to improve medical image analysis and clinical data interpretation.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Data Scientist to develop and implement algorithms for the analysis of microscopic medical images and clinical data, contributing to the accuracy and effectiveness of our diagnostics solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Image Analysis:
- Develop and implement algorithms for the analysis and interpretation of microscopic medical images
- Apply machine learning techniques to classify and segment images, extract features, and identify patterns related to medical conditions
- Collaborate with the team to improve image processing pipelines and enhance the accuracy of image-based diagnostics.
Data Processing and Analysis:
- Clean, preprocess, and analyze clinical data in conjunction with image data to derive meaningful insights
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to prepare datasets for analysis
- Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to understand data distributions, identify patterns, and generate hypotheses
- Develop statistical models to analyze clinical outcomes and support research initiatives.
Model Development:
- Build, train, and evaluate machine learning models for various tasks, including image classification and predictive modeling
- Fine-tune models using techniques such as cross-validation and hyperparameter optimization to achieve robust performance.
Research and Development:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and medical imaging
- Document findings, prepare reports, and present results.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including machine learning engineers and life-science researchers, to integrate data science solutions into broader workflows
- Communicate technical concepts and results to non-technical team members.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field required.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
- Experience with data analysis and machine learning libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch).
- Familiarity with image processing techniques and tools (e.g., OpenCV, PIL).
- Understanding of statistical methods and their application in data analysis.
