If this is you, the Department of Commerce is seeking to fill the position of a Data & Software Engineer.
The Data & Software Engineer will be provided a custom designed series of educational course content to lead to Microsoft certification in Azure, PowerPlatform, and Office 365-related expert content tracks.
Job Purpose:
The South Carolina Department of Commerce is looking for a data and technology specialist to join our growing division of analysis experts. The Data & Software Engineer will lead the work of developing production-ready code to support software development, database architecture, and data analytics on Agency initiatives, as well as ensuring optimal technology delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, program, implement, and maintain applications, websites, databases, interfaces and tools with analytics and automation capabilities.
- Collaborate with Agency executives, divisions, and design teams to understand functional needs, and work with team members to implement creative, innovative technological solutions.
- Coordinate program testing activities with Agency team and stakeholders to resolve inconsistencies and optimize applications.
- Construct the data infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
- Develop data visualizations that utilize the data infrastructure to support analytics team members in providing actionable insights for Agency strategy, operational efficiency, and key performance metrics.
A high school diploma and work experience in the modification and maintenance of system programs, the design and development of system software, or the testing and debugging of system software. An associate degree or a bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required work experience.
