Job Location: New York, NY
An entertainment organization in New York City is currently seeking a new Senior Data Engineer for a promising opportunity with their growing staff. In this role, the Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for managing, steering, and analyzing streaming video and CDN metrics that optimize viewer experience and helping other teams troubleshoot and analyze billions of events per day and execute a successful multi-CDN strategy.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Data Engineer will:
- Enrich and analyze critical high-velocity data streams (origin logs, CDN logs, 3rd party qualitative data, etc) that are used to troubleshoot and determine root cause analysis of VOD and live stream issues for many of the business units
- Analyze new data sources, ETL and event extrapolation pipelines, APIs to automate and expose features, and reimagine new techniques and functionality using cutting edge video delivery technologies
- Provide an environment that allows for space and time to invent and create industry leading solutions to some tough problems
- Guide and lead certain aspects of the platform and express you voice in the planning and execution of most aspects of the product
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in Python
- AWS or GCP experience
- Familiar with concepts of databases and storage engines in the realm of big-data (we use Clickhouse and BigQuery)
- Experience with CDN or streaming video concepts
- Familiar with patterns and architectures involved in ingestion, transformation, queueing, and querying of terabytes of data
- Familiar with REST API concepts and asynchronous patterns (bonus for Python)
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong atteniton to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Experience working with other metric vendors in this space; Mux, Cedexis, Conviva, etc
- Experience with visualizing or querying large and many-dimensioned datasets ? Clickhouse or BigQuery (general GCP knowledge)
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP concepts and how the internet works (ie, ASNs, POPs)
- Familiar with Data Warehousing and Data Visualization & Abstractions
