As the Assistant Director of Analytics and Reporting within UCLA Development’s Business Analytics and Development Reporting unit, you will be an insightful manager and technical leader on our team. As the largest department within UCLA’s External Affairs division, UCLA Development’s fundraising initiatives and programs take place within a comprehensive, centralized structure and in the many units across campus. Efficient and collaborative prospect reporting and analysis ensuring the proper portfolio composition of our donors (individuals, corporations and foundations) are, in part, why UCLA’s fundraising efforts rank #1 among public higher education institutions
As our Assistant Director, you will collaborate with our Senior Business Intelligence Analysts, the broader Business Analytics and Development Reporting team, and the Prospect Management team to provide thought leadership and technical direction on our data visualization reporting, Tableau Server implementation, and other aspects of development analytics and prospect reporting. You will provide direction and leadership to the staff reporting to you, and will build confidence that our prospect analysis and reporting capabilities are accurate and impactful as you develop and maintain productive working relationships with external staff, senior administrators and university constituents at all levels. You will be a curious problem solver with strong technical skills, provide a high level of industry insight and expertise combined with an affinity for data, along with the ability to communicate results and trends to non-technical users. Required/Preferred
1. Minimum of five to seven years of experience in business analytics, data mining and/or statistical analysis, or data visualization report creation and management with advanced knowledge of statistical techniques.

2. Strong knowledge of Tableau data visualization software, and Tableau Server functionality required, as well as extensive report creation experience.

3. Proven track record in analyzing, developing and proposing business process improvements using quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques.

4. Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of in business analytics ? distilling large datasets into actionable strategies and recommendations, business intelligence functions, advanced analytics, industry standards and best practices.

5. Prior management experience with ability to provide leadership to effectively organize, direct, motivate and evaluate staff. Ability to independently manage and delegate multiple complex projects simultaneously and assign priorities to staff.

6. Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage highly complex information, assess problems, and develop effective solutions. Ability to formulate logical and objective conclusions, provide metrics and communicate these with end-users and management.

7. Working knowledge of the principles and practices of philanthropy, sales or marketing.

8. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to think and plan strategically and serve as an advanced technical leader providing advice, counsel and analysis on business intelligence issues in a highly complex, process-driven and customer-oriented environment.

10. Advanced written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner. Ability to produce and deliver presentation to diverse audiences at all levels through the use of PowerPoint as well as other analytical reporting tools.

12. Strong knowledge of Excel, SQL, and VBA is preferred as is experience with Blackbaud CRM, or other CRM system/s
