Job Location: Chicago, IL

Analyst, Reporting & Analytics – FIN001380 UScellular’s Shared Analytical and Data Services team (SANDS) is comprised of highly quantitative resources with diverse backgrounds in Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, BI Reporting, Data Science, Econometrics, and Campaign Execution & Measurement. Our team has hundreds of years of experience in turning raw data into actionable insights. We deliver data solutions, reporting & analytical tools, Marketing Campaigns & Analytics, and develop a variety of statistical models to support various stakeholders across Marketing, Finance, Customer Service, and Sales Operations.

  • Perform data extraction, cleansing, and preparation for analysis, reporting, or campaigns using SQL and/or other data access/analysis tools
  • Collaborate with leaders and business stakeholders to define, document, and solve business problems with data, analysis, and reporting
  • Define data/analysis requirements with stakeholders and work with leaders and colleagues to develop and execute analytical plan to convert raw data into insights and actions
  • Complete project write-ups, documentation, and present results to stakeholders
  • Work independently to research data discrepancies, anomalies and assist IT with remediation of data defects
  • Perform other data, reporting, and analysis related assignments as required
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a concentration in Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative disciplines
  • Demonstrated academic competence (Overall GPA of 3.0 or better on 4.0 scale) with relevant coursework in programing, statistics, or other quantitative disciplines
  • Experience with MS Office applications (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with Relational Database structures and SQL syntax for data extraction and manipulation
  • Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset with excellent verbal and written communications, as well as presentation skills to share outputs with business stakeholders
  • Demonstrated application of quantitative skills and grasp of technical/analytical thought processes via project work
  • Independent thinker with the ability to assimilate feedback and adjust in response to coaching and direction from their immediate leader as well as from more experienced team members

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced Degree in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Math, MBA, or Computer Science
  • Prior data, reporting or analytical experience in Marketing, Credit Risk, or Business Analytics
  • Proficiency with a statistical/programming language like SAS, SPSS, STATA, MATLAB, R, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Exposure to data visualization concepts using industry tools like Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, Micro Strategy, COGNOS, and MS Power Point
  • Experience accessing data in Hadoop
