Primary Role

The Senior Business Process Specialist – Technology Spend Management is a crucial enabler of business process improvement within one or more lines of business. They apply the skills of business process consulting and technology enablement to lead learning and change within an organization. More than a project manager, the Senior Business Process Specialist provides leadership that builds commitment and understanding required to accomplish the improvement goals for a line of business. They must focus on optimizing value through a fact-based decision process. A key role is to oversee and direct business process improvement to achieve business goals. Additional descriptions of the primary role include:

  • Accountable for the preparation, review and consolidation of IT plans and budgets especially as they relate to operating expense management
  • Develops, maintains, and enhances the process for IT quarterly and annual planning especially as it relates to operating expense management
  • Able to help provide recommendations to drive cost down across the enterprise based on internal and external benchmarks
  • In partnership with IT Leaders, Finance and Strategic sourcing, ensures the appropriate financial services are available to effectively manage the IT organization
  • Helps understand the levers available to business decision-makers to provide those leaders with a degree of control over IT cost allocationsKnowledge/Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Project, Visio, and all Office Tools Strong knowledge of business process modeling solutions. Working knowledge of digital technologies and applicability for the water and wastewater industries
  • Deliver business results and maintain prudent operating expense budget management
  • Collaboration with other departments and core functional areas
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate narratives to executive leaders and key partners across the organization
  • Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues
  • Exceptional analytical skills focused on problem solving and process improvement in a rapidly changing environment Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building

  • Business-minded: ability to understand business challenges and opportunitiesExperience/Education
  • 6+ years of total work experience required providing business process analysis for large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams with additional experience focused on business process excellence and technology optimization
  • 6+ years of experience in an IT Business Analyst or IT Business Management Analyst capacity, specifically in IT operational processes, including Business Management, Investment Planning, and Financial management.
  • Experience using SAP (PTP and RTR), Coupa and PowerPlant is preferred
  • Experience creating and receiving against purchase requisitions/orders is preferred
  • Experience working independently, in a fast-paced environment, with ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Experience working with project forecasts, variance and management reporting, and contracts is preferred
  • Experience with capital and operating expense budget management
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate narratives to executive leaders and key partners across organizations
  • Experience working with relevant regulations in IT
  • Practical experience leveraging Lean / Six Sigma concepts is preferred Experience with the water utility industry is desired, but not required.
  • Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting or Business from an accredited institution or equivalent, or similar field is required. Equivalent work experience will be considered
  • Masters or MBA will be a plus
  • Certified Business Process Professional [CBPP] certification will be a plusTravel Requirements
