Description

We have an excellent full-time, salaried opportunity to join our team as a Data Governance Analyst! This position is responsible for leading development and implementation of Data Governance capabilities while providing advocacy, support, collaboration, and accountability around proactive stewardship of data assets. They will also promote appropriate availability and accessibility of data assets, facilitate integration of data stewardship principles and best practices into corporate project methodology, and promote data literacy within the organization.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and Data Architect to assimilate complex business models, processes, and scenarios into clear concise data warehouse and model requirements using best/standard practices.
  • Design and develop dashboards and data visualizations that meet business objectives, follow visualization best practices, and promote data-driven decisions.
  • Work with business stakeholders to QC test Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics solutions, including the enterprise data warehouse, data models, and data visualizations, to ensure integrity of design through implementation.
  • Perform data discovery and create proof of concepts.
  • Provide guidance to other team members regarding analytical reporting best/standard practices.
  • Champion new capabilities to be developed as well as any enhancements to existing capabilities in alignment with meeting strategic objectives.
  • Serve as the liaison to the IT Development and Support areas of IT ensuring that business needs are correctly translated and communicated during all phases of an IT solution’s life cycle.
  • Function as a subject matter expert in core business processes.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve business performance through information technology and/or process reengineering.
  • Perform the liaison role on individual project teams between the business function and Global Information Technology Services.
  • Act as the first line of contact and communications for all IT related requests within their designated business core processes.
  • Manage the change request process for all incoming work requests within their designated business area.
  • Help assess the business impact/risk of individual initiatives on the enterprise.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Data Strategy Council to establish and maintain enterprise Data Governance (DG) and Data Quality (DQ) strategy, direction, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide appropriate training and onboarding for Data Owners and Data Stewards.
  • Creatively market and engage employees to mature overall data literacy through a wide variety of communication channels.
  • Develop and maintain training materials for all levels of the organization, including data owners, data stewards, executives, and transactional roles.
  • Work with Data Stewards and subject matter experts to identify, investigate, troubleshoot, and document DQ defects, using complex SQL queries against multiple data sources as part of the investigation and analysis.
  • Design and develop SQL queries, dashboards and data visualizations to monitor DQ, follow visualization best practices.
  • Develop and maintain a broad understanding of key data sources, integrations, flows, and mappings.
  • Develop, support, and promote the documentation and understanding of data assets.
  • Lead efforts to research, procure, and implement data catalog, profiling, and quality tools.
  • Lead and support Master Data Management (MDM) efforts and administer MDM tools.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and analytics team on business intelligence and analytics projects to ensure best/standard practices regarding data naming conventions and usage.
  • Help assess the data impact/risk of new initiatives on the enterprise.
  • Participate in team reviews of all IT initiatives to ensure compliance with DG program.
  • Monitor industry methods, trends, and tools in DG, DQ, and MDM.
