The IT Business Systems Analyst works as part of a team and is accountable for supporting and improving existing applications, as well as implementing new applications with significant complexity. These applications include a variety of business and clinical applications, many of which are relied upon by staff throughout the organization. The analyst will support the full project lifecycle of our projects, including business analysis, documentation, testing, project coordination and customer support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with internal departments to understand new or changing application requirements
  • Analyzes operational workflow and existing system functionality, to identify and implement application changes to accomplish the desired business capabilities
  • Performs assessments of project requests and coordinates a cross-functional effort to define solutions and evaluate vendors for small and mid-sized initiatives
  • Administers applications to ensure they are correctly configured and support internal customer needs
  • Responds promptly to customer issues and provide timely resolution of these problems
  • Manages time effectively and balances the need to complete both operational support tasks and project assignments
  • Provides support for the existing interfaces between applications, ensuring that any errors are remediated in a timely way. The analyst will also be responsible for working with the application vendors to enhance these interfaces or to create new interfaces
  • Acts as an IT subject matter expert (SME) for multiple business and clinical areas and their associated applications
  • Mentors others to develop their skills and knowledge of applications and processes
  • Applies expertise to solve problems, even when it involves areas or systems that are unfamiliar
  • Coordinates the work involved with upgrading business and clinical applications. This includes working with internal customers, vendors and other IT departments
  • Project Manager for small projects that have moderate complexity and involve a small project team with staff from multiple teams
  • The analyst will support the full project lifecycle of our projects, including business analysis, documentation, testing, project coordination and customer support
  • Thinks broadly and continually improves processes and applications across different areas of IT, helping improve quality, efficiency and satisfaction for business and clinical staff
  • The analyst will support the full project lifecycle of our projects, including business analysis, documentation, implementation, testing, project coordination and customer support
  • Ensures the quality of systems by developing test cases, performing and/or coordinating testing and reporting on test results. Works effectively with others to resolve issues identified through the testing process
  • While working on small projects, the analyst will perform the full range of project lifecycle activities. This typically involves some or all of the following: business and workflow analysis, requirements definition, documentation, testing, go-live planning, project coordination and customer support
  • On larger and more complex projects, works under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Business Systems Analyst and focuses on select tasks such as analysis or testing

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an information technology related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Information Technology or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical skills/knowledge with several of the following
    • Microsoft Office
    • Microsoft SharePoint
    • Microsoft Project or similar project management tools
    • Microsoft Dynamics GP
    • Epic
    • Application interfaces with HL7, XML, EDI or other methods
    • Healthcare clinical applications
    • Enterprise business applications
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as may be required
  • Excellent verbal and written command of the English language
  • Regular attendance
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to provide on-call responsibilities
  • Is action oriented and willing to make decisions to keep things moving forward
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
